On Tuesday at Robert Hall, Rotary Club of Winston-Salem members had the special opportunity to hear from two individuals whose lives have been defined by leadership, service, and investing in others.

Coach Bill Hayes (right) is one of the most accomplished and influential figures in North Carolina collegiate athletics. He led championship football programs at Winston-Salem State University and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, winning multiple conferences and national championships.

We also welcomed Richard Daniels (left), a Winston-Salem State University Hall of Famer, former football standout, fellow Rotarian, and Chair and Advisor of the Bill and Carolyn Hayes Foundation, which is dedicated to raising awareness and funds to support Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Together they shared Coach Hayes' remarkable journey, the mission of the Bill and Carolyn Hayes Foundation, and how leadership, mentorship, and service can create a lasting impact on future generations.

Nothing makes us happier than watching Robert Hall become a place where everyone feels welcome, and that’s why some of our favorite evenings are our monthly Cocktails at Capone’s nights. Over the past year, we’ve come to realize that the evenings are at their best when local nonprofits, professional associations, and networking groups simultaneously gather in The Vault downstairs, as the space welcomes both familiar faces and new connections.

To help encourage those connections, we’re offering The Vault at no charge to nonprofits and networking groups during Cocktails at Capone’s. If your organization is looking for a unique place to host a networking event, volunteer appreciation gathering, membership mixer, or community meet-and-greet, we’d love to host you.

We are so excited to have Foolish Mortals Improv at Robert Hall on Friday, August 7th!

Featuring nine talented performers, every show is built from audience suggestions and transformed into hilarious games and scenes right before your eyes. If you've ever watched Whose Line Is It Anyway?, you'll have a great idea of what to expect: quick wit, creative characters, and nonstop fun. Before each scene, the cast simply asks the audience for inspiration (anything from a historical era to a location or occupation) and that becomes the jumping-off point for the comedy. And for anyone wondering, you won't be asked to come on stage—your participation is limited to shouting out ideas from your seat.
