Some highlights from our Dahlias & Donuts Class today include gorgeous dahlias from Karin England and fresh apple c***r donuts from Bennison's Bakery

Learning some flower math and new skills with the instruction of Lanie. Creating playful fall arrangements was the perfect way to kick-off October.

Meet our star-student, Etta. She takes her shop-dog duties very seriously.

Students created beautiful fall arrangements with the help of Lanie. We practiced the golden mean, color theory and using a Hydrangea as the floral mechanic.

Every arrangement needs a little movement. In this case dancing flowers and Dahlias became the star of the show.

A dance of fall flowers on the table and just a little bit overhead.

We loved these vines that wandered between little gatherings of dahlias, leading the eye from one arrangement to the next. And overhead, roses tucked among trailing greenery created a setting with blooms all over!

As many of you know, I grew up in Tennessee. Dolly Parton was my first concert and in my cassette compilation that took me to and from college.

She impressed me by the way she pursued her dream with creativity, humility and kindness. For years, I have had a quote on my wall: “You’ll never do a whole lot unless you’re brave enough to try.” It was Dolly’s words that lived in the back of my mind as I started the Shy Flower.

Sometimes you just have to be brave enough to take a leap! Thank you, Dolly 💖
