🌟 Meet Our 2026 Jerry P. Miller Distinguished Service Award Winner: Glenn Carlson 🌟

Some people don’t just support high school athletics—they become a part of the heart of their community. Glenn Carlson is one of those people.

Since retiring in 2006, Glenn has remained an indispensable part of the Winner High School community. While his primary role is coaching track, his dedication goes far beyond the track and field. Glenn drives activity buses for various sports, often packing extra food in case a student-athlete needs something to eat. He volunteers in the concession stand, serves as a bookkeeper for boys’ and girls’ basketball when he can, and is always the person willing to step up and help wherever he is needed.

Glenn’s support reaches every corner of Winner High School. He encourages students to do their best, mentors coaches, holds athletes accountable, and celebrates their successes. His philosophy is simple: his reward is seeing kids succeed. And his support doesn't stop at athletics—Glenn is also an avid supporter of the school’s drama program, attending the plays each year.

Beyond the school, Glenn gives back to his community through Feeding South Dakota, his involvement with the United Methodist Church, and various community projects.

His years of service have also included:
🏆 2023 Assistant Coach of the Year – Boys Sports
🏆 1985 Assistant Coach – State Championship Boys Track Team
🏆 1999 Assistant Coach – State Championship Boys Track Team
🏆 2002 Assistant Coach – State Championship Girls Track Team

Glenn represents the kind of person who quietly gives their time, energy, and heart to make high school athletics and their community better. ❤️
