It's been a tough week for the old speedway. With the passing of Vernon Holder Jr aka Red we've also lost Ricky Arnold, the best flagman Wi******er Speedway had. No offense to the others but Ricky was a real professional right down to his white pants and red shirt. I grew up sitting behind him in the stands and got to know him in my teens when he and Dennis Bowling, long time announcer, started Race World the slot car track. Ricky flagged Wi******er in it's prime including the Rebel 100's which saw winners like Freddy Smith, Jeff Purvis, a young Billy Moyer Sr and many others. Godspeed Ricky, you will be missed.

So this might be the only thing we have to share the memories of Wi******er soon, this is what i’m hearing anyway. How can people be so low as to act like they are clueless or oblivious knowing all along that they know exactly what is going on with the track being up for grabs.. Be real, don’t sugarcoat it. What’s the word guys?.. What have you heard?

9/25/2016 Tullahoma Tn. For immediate release:
Bob Harris, owner of DUCK RIVER RACEWAY PARK has made the purchase of the historic Wi******er Speedway located at 200 Fairground St in Wi******er Tn 37398. The speedway has been racing stock cars since 1957 and has a very loyal fan base with history that spans generations. Bob transformed Duck River into one of the nicer facilities in the state and he has plans to make some needed changes at Wi******er as well. Weekly racing will continue at Wi******er in 2017 with Duck River being used for special events only. Middle Tn. Late Model racers, Michael Luna and Scott Shelton of Sparta Tn. have been brought on as the new management team of the Speedway. Scott and Michael have found success this year at Crossville Speedway, Duck River Speedway since July, as well as the first annual Blue Collar Nationals. “Myself (Scott} and Michael are very excited to have this opportunity. Racing in this area has a lot of room to grow and with 3 tracks at our disposal, and a close relationship with Clarksville Speedway we will have the chance to make some great things happen for the racers and fans alike.” The first event for the new team will be Oct 29 a Halloween special with details TBA.
