May 31, 1935, the Mapparium opened to the public in Boston. This local landmark offers a one-of-a-kind view of the world from the inside out. Its three-story stained glass globe sits within the Mary Baker Eddy Library and lets visitors walk through a glass bridge at its center while continents and oceans surround them. The experience feels both historic and immersive with a map that reflects the world as it looked in the 1930s. It is a unique stop in Boston and one that leaves a lasting impression.

John F. Kennedy was born in Brookline, Massachusetts May 29, 1917, into a family that valued service and public life. He grew up in Massachusetts and later attended Harvard, where he studied government and wrote a thesis that became the book Why England Slept. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and earned recognition for his actions in the Pacific after the sinking of PT-109. He returned home and entered politics soon after. He won a seat in Congress in 1946 and later served in the Senate. His rise reflected discipline, intellect, and a strong sense of duty.

Here in Wilmington, the members of Friendship Lodge reflect on Kennedyโ€™s legacy and the weight of a life cut short. He led the nation through moments of tension and hope. He called for service and inspired a generation to look beyond themselves. His presidency ended in tragedy in 1963, and the loss still echoes today. Masons understand the value of time and the importance of leaving a lasting mark. Kennedyโ€™s life reminds us that even a brief span can shape a nation and inspire others to serve with purpose.

The tide crept through the marshes of Chelsea Creek as dawn light revealed uneasy shapes along the shoreline. It was May 27, 1775, and tension that had been building since Lexington and Concord was about to break upon the water. British troops had been sent to secure hay and livestock from Noddleโ€™s Island, vital supplies for the army occupying Boston. Colonial forces, watching closely from the mainland, understood the danger of allowing the enemy to strengthen its hold. What began as a contested foraging mission quickly drew militia from surrounding towns, their muskets trained across the narrow water. Boats shifted in the current, oars ready, as both sides prepared for a fight that would carry the war beyond fields and roads and onto the tide itself.

The clash that followed marked the first naval engagement of the American Revolution. Colonial forces pressed their advantage, driving the British back and forcing the destruction of the armed schooner Diana, which burned and sank in the creek. The loss stung British pride and showed that the colonists could challenge imperial power even at sea. Though small in scale, the battle carried meaning far beyond the marshes of Chelsea. It revealed a new dimension of the conflict, one in which ingenuity and determination could offset experience and strength. From these early waters would grow a naval struggle that stretched across oceans, proving that the fight for independence would not be confined to land. The Patriots had taken their first step toward contesting the greatest navy in the world, and the future would test how far that boldness could carry them. #1775
