Diamond State Merry Pranksters

Diamond State Merry Pranksters The group promoted the use of psychedelic drugs. Their early escapades were chronicled by Tom Wolfe in The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. Be a Merry Prankster.

The Merry Pranksters were a group of people who formed around American author Ken Kesey in 1964 and sometimes lived communally at his homes in California and Oregon. Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters are noted for the sociological significance of a lengthy road trip they took in the summer of 1964, traveling across the United States in a psychedelic painted school bus enigmatically and variably l

abeled "Further" or "Furthur". Wolfe also documents a notorious 1966 trip on Further from Mexico thru Houston, stopping to visit Kesey's friend novelist Larry McMurtry. Kesey was on the lam from a drug charge at the time. Notable members of the group include Kesey's best friend Ken Babbs and Neal Cassady, Carolyn Garcia (also known as Mountain Girl), Wavy Gravy, Paul Krassner, Stewart Brand, Del Close, Paul Foster, Kentucky Fab Five author Ed McClanahan (also known as "Captain Kentucky"), Gurney Norman, George Walker, Sandy Lehmann-Haupt, Anonymous (Linda Breen) and John Page Browning (also known as "Rampage" or the "Cadaverous Cowboy"). This group is the Diamond State Pranksters, the group in Delaware (The Diamond State) that is continuing the tradition of the original Merry Pranksters with community work, theater, music, art, and lots of Dayglow in our locale. We believe that improvisational action, in the spirit of humor and good will, can be a catalyst for change in many very serious fields. Help us laugh, and teach others to do so.

📢 Newest addition to WAB26

JUST ANNOUNCED!! Weekend at Bertha's has just added Philadelphia's own Tuff Crew. This trailblazing Hip Hop group has big mojo, and will perform it's legacy originals, all backed by legendary producer DJ Too Tuff. Tuff Crew is a hip hop group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, dubbed "Philly's first Rap Supergroup", founded in 1985. Members include Ice Dog, L. A. Kid, Tone Love, Monty G, and DJ Too Tuff.

Tuff Crew released four albums. Their joint debut LP with The Krown Rulers from Camden, New Jersey included production by the Ultramagnetic MCs' Kool Keith and Ced Gee, with a style that was bass-heavy with the Roland TR-808 drum machine and E-mu SP-12 sampler, raw "street" lyrics and aggressive scratch DJing. They performed with Public Enemy, Run–D.M.C., Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock, LL Cool J, and many others. They toured the US as the support act for 2Live Crew, and were fan favorites on the groundbreaking Street Beat radio program on Power 99, hosted by Lady B. They were racially mixed and ethnically diverse, and were regular performers at the After Midnight club in North Philly, once the largest Hip-Hop club in America. Their contemporaries included DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, DJ Cash Money and Marvelous, Cool C, Schoolly D, MC Breeze, and Three Times Dope.
