We love to hear people’s love stories! Here is ours!

Our Love Story

On October 6th, 2011, Lydia was less than a month shy of turning 17, and Sully had just turned 18. Both of their families went to St. George for the very first time.

Lydia was in a pink house with Sully in the blue house right beside her. After a few days of Sully eyeballing Lydia all week, her momma said, “Just go talk to the boy. You’ll never see him again.”

Lydia proceeded to ask his sisters to go play volleyball. He, of course, came along. When they returned from the game, Sully wrote his phone number in the sand. He invited her to go out on the beach later that night to go crab catching. Meanwhile, he’d been building a beautiful sandcastle all day and then went back out to decorate it with seashells for them to sit by and talk that evening.

That evening did include crab catching but mainly consisted of a lot of talking and seeing a falling star. Lydia knew that God was sending a sign.

The next morning, Sully’s mom thought angels had placed those shells on the castle, for she did not know he had gone out on the beach on a date. 😂

Three days later, he told his dad he was going to marry me. His response was, “The girl from Kentucky?!” (He was from Georgia.)

Two years later, he proposed at the same beach.

FIFTEEN years later, we are continuing to tell our rare and beautiful love story to our three beautiful children.

Wedding Wisdom Wednesday

How much should I expect to pay for a wedding in 2027-2028?

Obviously, you can go as extravagant as you want/can, but beautiful weddings are still being planned for under $25,000. If that is your price range, let me give you a breakdown of costs in the order of what you should book first. These are legitimate price averages in each category. I plan these weddings at this budget range frequently.

Wedding planner: $2,000
Venue: $6,000
Photographer: $2,500
Dress: $2,000
Florist: $1,500
Caterer: $3,000
Cake: $500
DJ: $1,500
Hair and makeup: $400 (bride only)
Decor and rentals: $1,000
Invitations: and postage: $500
Bartender and alcohol: $1,500

This leaves room for any extras and tips for your vendors.

If you’re having difficulty getting started, consult with me and I’ll guide you in the right direction!

One of my favorite photos of all time. Kelsey Ruth Photography and I were catching the sunset with these two at the perfect time, and our bride looked like an absolute princess.

She was willing to get on the ground for some amazing pictures, and then Kelsey had this idea. Yes. She most definitely stood up on my golf cart to get this shot.
