Showcased in this photo is the cast of The Snow Queen, a children's ballet presented by the Creative Dance Playhouse and performed at The Kimball Theatre on July 21st. This enchanting ballet, based on Hans Christian Anderson’s classic fairytale, was the conclusion of a 2-week-long, summer intensive under the direction of Ms Amy Haley. Sponsored by the Community Alliance for the Performing Arts, Ms Haley's choreography brought 55 characters to life for this production, with the aid of state-of-the art scene projection and period costuming. Ms. Haley is the program director and instructor of the highly popular Early Childhood Program offered through The Eastern Virginia School for the Performing Arts and teaches a progressive curriculum of age-appropriate dance classes at the school throughout the year, such as Storybook Ballet, Pre-Ballet, and Ballet 1-3. And big news tomorrow about our AYB Nutcracker....
Here is a little hint....

"Founded by dance superstar Rasta Thomas in 2007, it is anything but your typical dance group. Combining an intense routine along with visual delight, the sexy performers grab your attention during the show and never let go until the very end. On the SYTYCD performance, there were moves that had the audience in awe while watching. Done in unison, it was picture perfect.

The dance group is well known in the celebrity world and even had a performance in Carnegie Hall for Sir Elton John at a Rainforest charity event. The group has even performed at the opening ceremonies of the USA International Ballet Competition."

Hmm, any guess? Correctly guess, and you'll get entered into the raffle for the autographed and decorated pointe shoes by Victoria Jaiani of the Joffrey Ballet.
