Now that we are finally opening up again, let’s talk about some fun planning ideas for those recently engaged or thinking about getting engaged.
Selecting a Date.

What fun to have a wedding reception on a national holiday. We have several holidays that actually extend the normal weekend. An extended weekend can assist with travel plans for out of state guests, allowing more “travel time” to accommodate their needs. The extended weekend can allows guests the opportunity to plan a ”mini vacation” focused around your wedding ceremony. There are so many wonderful opportunities in Williamsburg, Virginia for tourism.

The Bridal couple can have a “suggestion list” of things to do for family and friends from past favorite Williamsburg dates. A thoughtful gesture for you to share with family members travelling to be with you on your special day. Williamsburg is close to Virginia Beach and Richmond so opportunities for day trips can be part of the plan. So stay a few extra days and get a better room block rate too!

Be aware that some of the national holiday dates do come with an elevated price tag, for your venue and your vendors. Do your homework and evaluate your event needs. The extra costs may be worthwhile for the gift of having who you want there, what you want, and when you want it!

Kaplan Parish Hall is now available for Memorial Receptions with buffet service.

We are happy to provide Memorial Reception Planning to families in need.

The Kaplan Parish Hall team realize that your time is very valuable and best spent on planning details for the funeral of your loved one. We take the burden of planning the Memorial Reception for you. A Memorial Reception requires the use of one of our approved caterers with the rental of Kaplan Parish Hall. We reach out to our approved caterers to determine availability for your reception date and connect you with the available caterers for your convenience.

Our team works directly with the caterer to ensure you walk into a beautiful and serene environment for the reception. Video presentation is an option during the reception. A designated prayer space for family and friends to sign the guest book is available. Our team is available for you during the planning stages and reception event.

We work with the Williamsburg funeral homes during the Mass to ensure all items displayed prior to funeral service are available in Kaplan Parish Hall and displayed according to your wishes.

Alcoholic Beverages permitted with appropriate licensing.

We do request a minimum of 48 hours advance notice to plan a Memorial Reception.

There is so much to plan and schedule for a wedding and “finding the time” to visit reception venues / vendors is sometimes half the battle! I know I sound like a broken record (what’s a record some of you may say?) but there should be no battles during this process. Slow down and take a breath. If you feel you need time to plan, then plan to take the time you need with an extended engagement.

There is no line in the sand that states wedding planning has to happen in 1 year. Be a couple and know what time lines you will both need to be successful to achieve the dream wedding you want. Two important factors that contribute to determining the event date is availability of Wedding Ceremony location and Reception Venue.

Spring is finally here!

Enjoy the great outdoors. Take a walk to refresh yourself.

Life bring us bouts of sun and rain. When was the last time you took a rain walk?

Kids love to do it, so bring out your inner child and give it a try. (You don't even need to tell anyone - just do it! It really will make you smile.)

To appreciate the sunshine we need to make it through the rain. Opportunity is provided in the next few days!

Without the rain, we would not have the beautiful trees and flowers that are budding around us, so make the best of it and enjoy all of God's natural gifts.

How do you determine what pictures you want the photographer to take?

Selecting a photographer that you are comfortable with and trust is important.
They should be able to guide you in this process and make suggestions based on the architectural features of the specific location of the event.

If your photographer is not familiar with your event location, schedule a site visit together so you can brainstorm ideas. A little advance planning reaps enormous rewards for your event photographs.

Be sure to have a “list” of must have pictures so your photographer can be prepared to capture exactly what you want. Every event is different because the people attending are different.

For your photographer to truly capture what you envision for your wedding day, fully communicate to them your desires.

Trust your photographer to do their job while you enjoy the event after months of planning.

The Wedding Dress
Finding the right dress can be perceived as a stressful event for some brides. Establish a budget for your wedding gown prior to arrival at the Bridal Salon. (I always suggest you opt for a little wiggle room in your budget, just in case.) It is actually a wonderful opportunity to create special memories with your select wedding party or family members. Just enough to keep it special, not too many to make a crowd. Relax, make this an event and enjoy the opportunity of selecting gowns that reflect your individual taste and personality. This is your moment to shine, enjoy the spotlight. All eyes will be on you as you walk down the aisle. You want to be beautiful for your fiancé, but also comfortable for the ceremony, pictures and reception events.
It's important to dress appropriately, to try on wedding dresses. Plan to bring your wedding shoes. If you do not have them yet, bring a pair of shoes with high heel similar to shoes you plan to wear with your wedding dress. Bring any unique heirloom jewelry or special items that you want to accompany your dress.
Don't be afraid to try a dress that the Bridal
Consultant is sharing with you. You may be pleasantly surprised. This is what they do and they are familiar with the stock, let them guide you.

Suffice to say, you will just know….
