In honor of turning 29 today, and in true dreamer fashion, I'm sharing 29 creative goals I’m manifesting for this next year of life & business. All of these are visions I've had in my notes app for a little while, and I hope you enjoy! Flowers are not accessories, they are living art. It’s through this medium that I feel most at home, most at peace. Like any artist, it’s a practice. Years of showing up to the studio, learning, growing, and most importantly, dreaming.

Aster & Bee has taken me further than I ever imagined: across states to beautiful venues, and it's sparked endless creativity in me. It's also grounded me. It's made me softer, erased my anxieties, and deepened my awareness of the bigger picture of life. This little business remains a reflection of my love- for you, for flowers, and all the world around us.

Curated personal flowers with "roots" from all over the world. (Flower wordplay opportunities are truly endless 😉)

This is the reality and beauty of floral design. In just these personal flowers, I used three different wholesalers with flowers from all over the country and world. A reminder that beauty has no borders, and each stem has it's own story before becoming part of the design's collective "whole". Local dahlias from . Easily my favorite fall design because it IS fall. Heavy emphasis on "is". Local limelight hydrangeas are in their rosy dried stage (some of these cut from my own yard), local foliage is at their peak fall color, and dahlias are slowly wrapping up for the season. Everything feels overgrown and straight from the earth, because it IS. Huge shoutout to and for the amazing fall foliage, and dahlias. When you want your flowers to feel like they belong, local and seasonal is always the answer.

There’s an art to bud vases. Let’s talk about it:

For years, bud vases felt tricky to me. They weren’t a compote, not quite a small arrangement, but they still needed to make an impact. Otherwise WHAT IS THE POINT? (We’ll touch on that in another post). But what actually makes a good bud vase? 🧐

A good bud vase starts with actually filling it. Oftentimes, they’re treated like cheap fillers. But a couple stems floating in water just doesn’t cut it for me. Each bud vase deserves an intentional design.

For me, that means 2-3 focal blooms (garden roses, dahlias, peonies, zinnias etc) + a handful of airy, textural stems. Think clematis, phlox, delphinium, butterfly ranunculus etc for movement.

The vase itself also matters. Thick, chunky glass with narrow necks? Hard pass for me. I’ve been using delicate ribbed glass bud vases that are beautifully shaped, with the perfect varying heights, and allow for more stems without feeling crammed.

Also, quantity counts on tables ‼️ For round tables, think of doing quantities of 5 + (in odd number clusters).

And finally, pricing. This is key. Bud vases still require design, premium stems and labor. Lower end pricing depending on color palette, season, floral picks, is $15-20 per vase. Mid to higher end pricing is $25-40 per vase. Think: focal stems averaging $2.50 each (can sometimes be $4 WHOLESALE) and textural stems ranging $3-$6 WHOLESALE per vase.

A thoughtful bud vase is more than “just a few stems”. It’s a mini floral art piece that deserves all the love (and fair pricing).
