Today marks the 13th year without the wonderful man who started Sunset Pines Resort. Dale Petkovsek passed away on July 27, 2013, leaving us a rich legacy of a gathering place for individuals of all abilities and an organization, Rock Creek Disabled Outdoors, that has done amazing things for the disabled community.

In 1999, with the help of many community members, Sunset Pines Resort became a dream come true for Dale with 2 newly built cabins and the renovations of an existing farm home. The manmade pond became a focal point for guests with an accessible dock that gave disabled individuals an opportunity to fish in a stocked pond. In 2008 came the shelter, which gave people in the community a place to host parties of all kinds, a spot to sit in the shade to enjoy the scenery, and a new home for the Hunt for Hunters with Disabilities. We are proud to be able to continue his legacy and share his dream with all of you.

Always in our hearts,
Dale Petkovsek
