Some of you will already know this, but in March I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The tumor is very small, and was detected early, both of which we are extremely grateful for. Because of my family’s history with breast cancer, I have made the decision to have a double mastectomy in May. The recovery period for this surgery will be 4-6 weeks, during which I will have limits on what I can do, specifically lifting and carrying things like wedding dresses. I would appreciate your keeping my family and I in your thoughts and prayers throughout this time.
What this means for Accent Bridal & Tux:
First, NONE of the wedding parties we have previously booked will be affected. We are making arrangements with all of those wedding parties for picking up and/or delivering their tuxedos, so that their special days will not be interrupted in the slightest. We have already had numerous friends and family members volunteering to help us make sure of this.
Second, we are not taking any new wedding bookings for late May, or the entire month of June. This is a tough one – as a small business owner you never want to turn away a customer but, in this case, we have no choice. We will also not be able to make any bridal appointments, or measure attendants for tuxedos during June, for weddings later in the year.
Customers who have already booked their weddings with us for later in the year will be able to start sending their attendants in for measurements after July 4th. Anyone who has a question or concern about their wedding booking is welcome to call me and discuss it – we will be sending out a personal letter to all of you with my cell phone number included.
Third, our hours will be very fluid during this 4-6 week period. We will be closed often, and open only partial days at other times. If my recovery goes very well, as we are faithful it will, I may be able to take on more sooner – but I ask for your patience and understanding if that is not the case.
