Last night was a great group who truly enjoyed being together, hanging out, and especially partying together on the dance floor. The decorations were absolutely on point for this venue. From the lighted Mr & Mrs, to the table decor, hanging drapes and flowers, the dessert station, appetizer station during cocktail hour, all came together beautifully. The DJ lighting took over the space once the house lights came down and the party portion of the evening began. The foam glow sticks that are so popular right now are a great decision. Congratulations to Alex & Kylie!
I want to take a moment to give some attention to the ceremony portion of the wedding day. This part of the day is the farthest from what people imagine when they hire a DJ, or what might draw a couple to a particular DJ, yet this job is nearly always entrusted to the same person who'll be expected to throw a party just a few hours later. Here are a few considerations from yesterday's setup: battery powered for the entire rig, mixer, mics, and both speakers. This allowed one speaker to be largely hidden by a tree on the opposite side of the crowd, and the other to be placed among some bushes. The mixer and mic station was then tucked back into the bushes strategically so I could still see the officiant as well as everyone during the processional. These placements maintained the aesthetic Prairie Hill Vineyard at Stockemer Farm created for this ceremony area. Normally I like to use a lapel mic for the officiant, but the Kansas wind wasn't having that, so the trusty handheld went out. Much thought and planning goes into having everything on hand on your special day, as well as a trained eye for choosing the perfect placement of our gear. The result is excellent audio coverage with minimal visual impact.
P.S. Rent The Chef has a 💯 success rate for me, and I've been to many, many weddings they cater. It tastes great, of course, but it's also an efficient way to feed bigger groups! 200+ no problem.
