Very happy with this dress makeover. 😊

I do not have the before pics because I did not think about taking them on her pinning……

She purchased a dress online customized to her measurements, but the dress fit her “frumpy” and extremely short-waisted.

So, I stream-lined the fit of the bodice by reducing the side seams, and tucking at the back and bustline.
Then, to extend the short waistline, I needed to add a two inch band of fabric and lining. I just happened to have an (almost) exact match of this stretch lace!
The extension only needed to apply at the front, so I tapered the waistline, easing into the back. That was great, because I did not have to cut through or interrupt the zipper in any way.

I shortened and narrowed the sleeves, as well.

The dress could not have fit the bride any better. 😊

This was two full days of work….. a walk-in came one week ago today. The wedding was to be on Valentines Day! The first picture is tonight when she picked up the dress….. the next three are before/after pics of the front, back and train. The rest of the pics are just extra shots of the finished product. BTW, this is a pretty, somewhat vintage, Maggie Sottero gown I picked up for the style show in January. 😊

The dress was beautiful to start with, but the bride wanted updates.
1. Sweetheart neckline
2. Off-shoulder straps
3. Needed hemming
4. Wanted “snatch” waistline tightened
5. Fill in the see-through tulle on the train (added satin to train)
6. Back had to be lowered to balance the bodice tension without the front yoke.
7. Wanted some short gloves.

Almost finished with a lovely custom wedding dress….. it’s too small for my dress form, so the back can’t be closed….. (...

Here’s a lovely custom veil ready for pickup…… took forever to place these pearls…… Next time I’ll have to charge more!
