But TRUST someone who's been planning weddings LONGER THAN GOOGLE HAS BEEN AROUND! 😎💻

After 28+ years in the wedding industry, I can promise you… things CAN and DO go wrong! 😳

🚨 What happens when a vendor doesn't show up?
⏰ What happens when your timeline falls apart?

🤯 WHO is going to fix it all while you're getting married?!
Your mom? Your maid of honor? Or that cousin who's already 5 ULTRAS IN and swears they've got everything under control?! 🍻🤣

There's a reason I jokingly call DIY weddings "DISASTER IT YOURSELF!" 😂

Don't get me wrong… I LOVE personalized DIY décor! But there's a HUGE difference between making your centerpieces and managing an entire wedding!

After 28+ years of weddings & events—yes, I started in the 1900s 🤣😂—we’ve seen a LOT.

Can some things on this list work? Occasionally. But there’s a reason experienced professionals recommend against them.

One of the BIGGEST issues we’ve seen this year? Opening food stations to everyone at once. 150 guests heading to food simultaneously means long lines, difficulty replenishing and chaos—especially if there isn’t a seat for every guest. Release tables and control the flow.

PLEASE create a seating chart, too. Your guests would much rather find their last name alphabetically than play Where’s Waldo through 150 names arranged by table. 😂 Assigned seating keeps groups together and helps your catering/planning team identify allergies, elderly guests and accessibility needs. Sometimes place cards are important, too!

Another costly problem? Running late. Hair, makeup or photography delays don’t automatically extend your vendors’ contracted time. Overtime across multiple vendors adds up FAST. Sometimes you simply have to start earlier than you’d like.

And timelines? AI is a great tool, but it doesn’t replace an experienced planner who understands the actual flow of a wedding. We’ve seen AI timelines rush things that need time and create 5–6 hour receptions that simply aren't realistic.

More time doesn’t automatically mean more fun—especially without alcohol. And extending alcohol service just to make a reception longer creates additional safety and liability concerns.
Our recommendations aren't arbitrary. They come from decades of experience, education, certifications and thousands of hours onsite.

Be wise. Trust the process. Trust your professionals—and listen to the planner who’s been doing this longer than Google has been around. 😉💕
