As a DJ, I listen to and play a lot of music from all genres. My specialty is family-friendly entertainment, so my default is to avoid inappropriate or suggestive lyrics, themes, etc. I named my business Family DJ to emphasize this focus. Many of my clients have sought me out for this very reason.

As a professional, have I played songs with extremely coarse and (frankly) offensive lyrics? Yes, but only when my paying client specifically requested it. It doesn't happen often, though. My branding tends to dissuade those kinds of clients from hiring me. I prefer it that way. There are plenty of other DJs out there who have no issues with offensive lyrics or who seek to be as crass as possible. They are welcome to those gigs. They're not for me.

I'm grateful I've been able to play a part in so many family-friendly weddings and other events. A big thank you and shout out to all who have invited me to share in the special moments of their lives.

One of the first events I did after I converted my hobby to a business (years ago) was a wedding for a friend at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club. This past weekend, I performed there for Front Royal Family Practice. Plenty of fun people helped make it a really fun evening.
