Ever since moving to White Plains almost two years ago, I thought it would be great to book some local bands and solo musicians, a few times over the summer, to play for friends & neighbors in our backyard. So before this summer passes us by again, let’s make it happen! The ‘Ramble’ I borrowed from Levon Helm’s famous ‘Midnight Ramble’ he hosted at his barn in Woodstock. Shortly before he passed,
in April 2012, he said “Keep it going” and that’s what his daughter, Amy Helm, and longtime manager Barbara O’Brien are doing to this day! It was inspired by the ‘anything goes’ minstrel shows he recalled from his Arkansas childhood home. It is exactly what I have in mind for our backyard series – a wide variety of music genres – anything goes! Here are a few thoughts along with Do’s & Don’ts:
1. This is the page to ‘like’ and follow if you want to be alerted when an event is scheduled.
2. The capacity probably will be capped at ~75 people but it might get adjusted once we know how many people can comfortably fit in. If you want to make sure you’ll get in, I highly recommend to get your tickets ahead of time. For reservations please send a personal message through Facebook or email me at [email protected]
3. There will be a small, suggested donation to cover the cost of the band and it likely will vary, depending on their charges but should not be more than $15.00
4. It’s bring your own lawn chair or blanket, no chairs will be provided.
5. We’ll offer a few snacks & refreshments for purchase for a very reasonable price.
6. No alcohol will be sold but it’s B.Y.O.B, if you like but please, no hard liquor.
7. Showtime’s will be on a Wednesday or Thursday, typically from 7pm to 9:30pm.
8. Parking will be very limited so please consider walking or biking here.
9. And last but not least: This is meant to be fun and to bring the neighborhood together. So please be courteous and mindful of other neighbors when you come and leave.
