INTELEC 2025: Event Recap from the Manager’s Desk
Delivering the 42nd Annual IEEE INTELEC at the University of Houston Student Center was a unique and rewarding challenge. Coordinating a global technical conference within an
academic setting brought its share of learning moments and ultimately, a very
successful outcome.
Challenges Along the Way
As with any large-scale event, there were hurdles to navigate. Late
registrations created additional complexity in seating, catering counts, and
printed materials. The venue’s student-run operations introduced new dynamics
requiring extra coordination and adaptability to align with university
schedules, policies, and resources. Communication with in-house vendors,
including catering and AV, moved at a slower pace than typical corporate
venues, demanding more proactive follow-up and on-the-ground problem-solving.
Despite these challenges, our team stayed flexible and solutions-focused. We
made strategic adjustments to the program layout and logistics to ensure the
event remained within budget without sacrificing attendee experience or
quality.
Successes and Highlights
The result was a smooth and engaging conference that brought together
international experts, industry leaders, and students to discuss the latest in
energy systems, particularly for data centers. Attendance was stronger than anticipated,
sessions ran on schedule, and both the technical committee and attendees left
satisfied with the quality of content and ex*****on.
A special thank you to Dr. Harish Krishnamoorthy for his leadership,
collaboration, and tireless efforts throughout the planning process, and to
Allison for her coordination and commitment behind the scenes. Their
partnership and dedication were instrumental in delivering a successful INTELEC
2025.
While it wasn’t the easiest venue, it was a meaningful experience — one that demonstrated
the value of adaptability, teamwork, and strong relationships in producing
exceptional conferences, even under challenging conditions.
