I am thankful to be a nurse educator at Carroll Community College because every day I get to work alongside incredible friends and peers who inspire me with their dedication, compassion, and expertise. I am grateful for the joy of getting to know our students, their stories, the "why" behind their journey, their goals, and their growth. I'm thankful for the privilege of watching them achieve their dreams. Seeing them step into the profession, and later working alongside them as colleagues, is one of the greatest rewards of this role. Nursing is an amazing profession, and I am truly thankful to support it by helping shape the next generation of nurses. Our graduates are remarkable, and it is an honor to be part of their journey.

Why I’m Thankful to Be Part of Nursing Education at Carroll Community College

I am truly thankful and feel blessed to work at Carroll Community College. The culture here fosters close, meaningful connections with faculty, staff, and students, creating a supportive environment where everyone feels valued. One of the things I’m most grateful for is student advising. Since I no longer practice at the bedside, I see my students as my patients and take pride in guiding them on their journey to becoming registered nurses.

I also appreciate the autonomy in my role, which empowers me to lead and innovate—especially in our high-quality clinical simulation program. Through simulation, we provide experiential learning that builds confidence, clinical reasoning, and judgment in a safe, realistic setting. Over my 15 years at Carroll, our nursing program has consistently embraced innovation and evidence-based practices to prepare students for success.

I thrive in this environment of high standards, kindness, and collaboration. It’s a privilege to be part of a program that truly makes a difference in the lives of future nurses.
