DRUM ROLL PLEASE....WE ARE DELIGHTED TO INTRODUCE OUR NEWEST STAFF MEMBER: ELIOT SCHILLLING! Please read her bio below!!!
This summer she will be taking over our L5/6 (12-14yrs) Contemporary Class Thursday 6-7pm. We still have room if you would like to dance with her this summer! Our best thoughts go our to instructor Alissa Thompson who is recovery from her surgery to repair her torn achilles.
Eliot Schilling began dancing at the age of three at Prairie Blue Creative Arts in Jefferson, Iowa, where she received her formal dance training, participated in dance outreach programs, and began teaching. She continued dancing at Grinnell College, where she was a member of the Grinnell College Dance Ensemble, performing works combining contemporary dance withstorytelling, traditional West African Mandingo dance, and Balinese dance. In 2026, Eliot received the Alexander “Sandy” Moffett Award, through which she taught dance classes for
adult women in the Grinnell community. Her performance experience includes works with Hurley & Dancers, appearances at the Iowa Dance Festival and Seattle International Dance Festival, and a variety of community and collegiate dance productions. She was also a member of the inaugural cohort of Djatiguiya—Hospitality Project, directed by Aguibou Sanou, which focused on bringing dance into the Grinnell community. When she's not dancing, Eliot enjoys spending
time with animals, crocheting, and staying involved in her hometown of Churdan, Iowa. She is excited to be a part of the DanzArts faculty!
