West Side Celebrate 250

As 2024 comes to a close, so does West Springfield’s 250th anniversary. Here is a recap of some of the bigger events that occurred during the anniversary celebration. On February 23, the town celebrated its 250th anniversary at Clark Field, with a fireworks display to end the night. On May 18, a Masquerade Gala was held at Storrowton Tavern & Carriage House, featuring reenactments of historic town figures, a historic slideshow and more. From June 22-23, West Springfield held a two-day block party on the town common, featuring vendors, food trucks and more. On August 24, the town had its 250th anniversary parade, the last big event of the year.

Go to West Side Celebrate 250 to see more events that occurred during the anniversary. Thank you to the 250th Anniversary Committee as well for organizing the yearlong celebration. As for 2025, future posts will focus more on the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution and the role that West Springfield played in the war, as well as events leading up to it.

The West Springfield High School Yearbook Staff has an extensive archive of "new old stock" vintage yearbooks just waiting to be reunited with alumni. They're available for only $25.00 a copy, with free shipping to any address in the U.S. (or free pickup in the WSHS office).

On Sunday, the 250th Anniversary Commiteee held our Half-Way to St. Paddy's Day 5k & Kids Fun Run! There was a lot of excitement happening at the Irish Cultural Center & Trinity Pub including a bounce house and crafts for kids, Irish dancers and live music, plus a variety of vendors to shop from. Thank you to all the sponsors, participants, and volunteers!

This Sunday! We're joining in the fun with the West Side Celebrate 250 Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day 5K & Kids Fun Run taking place at the ICC on September 8!

Join us for live music, gift and craft vendors and a bounce house for kids. The Irish House Restaurant and Trinity Pub bar opens at 12 pm, and the kitchen opens for food at 1 pm.

Enjoy the atmosphere before and after the races in our authentic Dublin-style pub, or out on the patio with live music from Jimmy McArdle and Jerry Murphy from 2–5 pm.

👕🍀🥇Celebrate Town West Springfield's 250th Anniversary with the Irish Cultural Center of Western New England at the Half-Way to St. Paddy's Day 5k & Kids Fun Run! Join in the Kids Fun Run race series (Ages 12 & Under) starting from the Irish Cultural Center on Morgan Road in West Springfield, running along the West Springfield Bagg Brook Trail. Race Check-In starts at 12:00pm, with a cost of $10.00 per child per race, $35 per adult per race, and pre-registration is mandatory.

Festive attire is encouraged- you can never wear too much green or glitter! After the race, guests can enjoy a variety of activities including traditional live Irish dancing and a meet & greet with the West Springfield Colleens!
