🌸 A Little Flower Farm update + a big thank you!🌸

First, thank you to everyone who came out for flowers this weekend and sold us out again!! I'm so grateful for each of you who stops by, takes home a bouquet, and supports this little flower farm. And to those of you who have been coming back week after week -- you know who you are, and I appreciate you more than you know. ❤️

We are getting to that time of year when the flower season starts winding down, but we're not quite finished yet! I still have mums growing in the field that haven't bloomed, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a beautiful late season show. 🤞🌼

Here's the plan for the next couple of weeks:

🍂 Friday, October 16: I'll have a limited number of bouquets available for pre-order and Friday pickup. I have some beautiful dahlias coming in from a local flower farmer for special orders this weekend, and I'm planning to make a few extra bouquets too! Send me a message if you'd like to reserve one.

💐 Saturday, October 17: no regular farmstand this weekend.

🌿 Saturday, October 24: the stand will be closed while I'm out of town.

🌼 Saturday, October 31: I'm leaving this day open for now! It will depend on how the mums bloom, when the frost comes, and how much we have available. I'll let you know as we get closer.

As always, the frost will eventually bring our local flower season to a close, but I'm hoping we have a little more flower magic left! I'll keep you posted as the mums develop and we see what Mother Nature has in store.

🍂 Fall flowers are showing off this week! 🍂

There's so much to enjoy in these last weeks of the fall flower season. Along with zinnias, sunflowers, fall blooming cosmos, we've got the last of the broom corn and two new fun specialty flowers -- 🎃🌶️ pumpkin on a stick and rooster peppers!!

🎃 Pumpkin on a stick is such a fun fall shape and texture, and

🌶️ Rooster peppers are the cutest little red peppers growing right on top of grain stems. They're both just the right size for bouquets and add a playful little pop of color -- there's at least one stem of each in every fall colored bouquet.

And for those who love pink, don't worry -- there's still a place for pink in the middle of fall! 💕 I've tucked a couple of pink bouquets into this week's mix because flowers should make you happy, whatever this season.

Come early for the best selection. I love getting to share these unusual little treasures with you!!

🎃 Wait.... That's a real flower?!

It looks almost too perfect to be real, but I promise -- pumpkin on a stick is a real cut flower. And I've got the pictures to prove it! 😅

I planted these way back in early summer specifically, so they would be ready for the flower field when fall arrived.

And now they're here and I LOVE them in bouquets.

They're the perfect size for arranging, And they add an instant fall element without taking over the bouquet, and they're completely unique without being... Well... weird. 😉

Pumpkin on a stick is actually in the eggplant family, which explains a little bit of its unusual shape. And so far it seems to be a pretty sturdy flower in the vase too.

I especially love how it looks tucked in among all the burgundy's oranges, yellows and fall textures that are blooming right now

So if you see one in a bouquet at the farm stand, don't be tricked into thinking at some kind of artificial decoration.

It's a flower. A very fun, very fall flower. 🎃🌿

And good news -- you'll be seeing them in this weekend's bouquets! I'm planning to harvest them Friday, so they should be ready to add a little extra magic to your weekend flowers.

And yes, I planted it months ago just for this moment. That's the flower former life!

🍂 Fall has officially arrived in the flower field. 🍂

The first pumpkin on a stick has made it into the bouquets! 🌿🎃 I am not kidding -- this is not a Hobby Lobby plastic charm, It is a real true cut "flower" grown right here in West Lafayette. We'll have them in bouquets this weekend and next weekend.

Add in broom corn, burgundies, oranges, golden yellows, dahlias, zinnias and all those amazing fall textures -- and the bouquets are looking like October.

This is the kind of jewel tone color combination I love all year long.

If you've been meaning to come get some flowers, now is the time. You have only a couple more weeks of flowers before frost brings the season to a close.

I'll have fresh bouquets at the Abundance Flower Farm stand tomorrow.

💐 Homecoming is this weekend!

If you have a student heading to Homecoming this weekend, I can help with the flowers. ❤️

I'm making locally grown Homecoming bouquets, neatly wrapped and finished with a subtle sparkly ribbon -- pretty, special, and ready to hand to your favorite Homecoming date.

And because they're made here at the farm, I can work with your colors to create something that feels personal and unique.

What a weekend. 🧡

First, a huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the Abundance Flower Farm flower stand in West Lafayette this weekend. I'm so grateful for every person who came and especially for the familiar faces who keep coming back week after week. Your support means more than you know.🌸

And then there was our beautiful afternoon at Rose & Wick in downtown Lafayette for our fall flower arranging workshop!

It was just the kind of afternoon I love -- relaxed, creative, and full beautiful flowers. We had the first harvest of eucalyptus, broom corn and amaranth, dahlias and zinnias, and many gorgeous combinations taking shape around the room.

Everyone started with the same ingredients, but every bouquet turned out differently. That's one of my favorite things about arranging flowers -- there really is no single right way to make something beautiful.

A huge thank you to Rose and Wick for hosting us and creating such a lovely space for an afternoon of flowers and creativity. And thank you to everyone who came and played with flowers with me! 🌿🌸

I'm already looking forward to the next one! And to all of you who continue to show up for my little flower farm -- thank you. Truly. 🧡

🍂 I saw orange in the flower field tonight. 🍂

The first little pumpkin on a stick is starting to turn orange -- and I'm ridiculously excited about it. 😂

We're not quite ready for a whole harvest yet, But it's pretty good sign that fall is officially making its way into the flower field.

And with the cooler weather, the flowers are changing, too.

This weekend's bouquets will have warm bright colors, more beady textured broom corn, lots of zinnias, and another beautiful round of dahlias from my local flower farmer friend. 🌸

I love this part of the season -- rich jewel tones, fall textures, and a large variety of flowers.

Last week, 54 hellebores went into the ground at Abundance Flower Farm.

And this November, another 100 peony plants will arrive.

Why so many spring flowers?

Because spring is when I see just how much our community loves locally grown flowers. The demand for early season blooms has been incredible and I'm listening.

A flower farm is always a little bit about patience. You plant something now, take care of the soil, wait through the seasons, and trust that someday those tiny plants will become flowers that someone will carry home.

So while I'm still harvesting dahlias and zinnias and enjoying every bit of late summer, I'm already thinking about next spring. 🌸

More tulips. More peonies. More hellebores. more locally grown flowers for our community.

It takes a lot of planning -- and a lot of planting -- to keep the flowers coming. 💚

And I can't wait to see what these 154 new plants become!
