Some thoughts on wedding vows by Ellie H. McKinney a gal I admire.
Nate and I didn’t write our vows for own wedding day- because of the rush and stress of planning and work life. I regret it.
The Rush is real and being intentional requires a slow down.
How often do you rush things?
Rush to make it on time, rush to assumptions, or rush to hit the next goal.
I used to do a lot of rushing. In all honesty, I still have to make myself stop and slow down a lot of the time.
and I are in the final stages of planning our vow renewal. When we got married (we are celebrating our 10 year anni this May!), we were young. We didn’t write our own vows because once again- we were rushing in life.
Rushing to plan a wedding while I balanced my new career and he worked hard towards his PharmD.
Now that we’ve spent the last 10 years as a married couple, and have become parents, we are choosing to slow down.
Slow down to take time to appreciate our accomplishments.
Slow down to celebrate our beautiful time on this earth together.
Slow down enough to write vows.
Vows were traditionally used to declare a promise in public, in front of your friends and family, to commit yourself to one another.
In today’s world- I like to view vows as an artistic expression of the connection that you share and want to continue.
I mean, words ARE art.
Words are powerful and so is being intentional. ✨
We’re planning to read our vows to one another during our trip to Ireland with Rhye. My parents are joining us and we are thrilled to visit my Dad’s family’s home town.
No rushing. Just intentionally enjoying.
Who else can relate to the rush?
