Today I was applying for the CARES ACT $5000 Small Business Grant. I have a small, viable business, planning to reopen, and hire help as needed to produce locally sourced whole food products. My business has material financial needs, due to lack of income to offset expenses, yet I can not honesty say these losses that cannot be overcome without the CARES ACT grant federal relief funds, so I am declining this application today in hopes this money can help somebody else who needs help more than I do.

Thank you to all who attended the 2018 Watson Fellowship Garden Party. Be it local businesses or our gardeners that made the effort to attend we appreciate you. The purpose of this Garden Party was to bring together local businesses with land and resources to get a visual of having gardens and to meet with representatives of W.H.E.A.T and the Connecticut Food Bank to see how they could utilize their space to grow food for themselves and for the Local Food Banks, as well as show appreciation to our gardeners for all their hard work throughout the last 4 years. Our goal is to try and get as many local businesses as possible on board to grow for the food banks. It is not always easy to convince someone to tear up their hard earned, beautiful lawns and quaint landscaping to grow food for others. Therefore, achieving this feat with just one business (or two :) is an accomplishment being that that one business can feed so many. Thank you to all of our employees that attended and took a couple hours out of their Saturday to represent our company and speak with the different businesses that showed up to learn about the garden. This speaks volumes of your character and dedication to this wonderful place that we call Watson Inc.. Watson does so much for us it is so easy to give back with just 3 hours of a Saturday. Thank you to A Place Called Hope that came to educate us about their mission, the raptors and why they are important to our ecosystem. Raptors benefit the gardens in so many ways and keep pests at bay. (in their tummy ;) Thank you to the Connecticut Food Bank and WHEAT of West Haven for spreading the word and attending the event speaking to people, on their behalf, letting us know what we can do to help feed the hungry in Connecticut. Special big thank you to the THE ELWOODS who braved the scorching heat to rock on for our cause and the so many causes that they rock for on a regular basis. You guys are awesome! Dream Team Foods made some wonderful food for everyone to enjoy. For that we thank you! Please feel free to contact us at Watson or the food banks if you think doing a garden like this in the future is something you would be interested in.
