If you don’t like cake, don’t have cake at your wedding. Having cake is just an old tradition. Your day is about you, so have what you like. Donuts, cookies, ice cream, the possibilities are endless!

When it comes to your big day, wedding planner or not, make sure someone besides you knows what is supposed to happen from beginning to end (unless you want to answer 112 questions all day long). A day of timeline passed out to bridal party and family can help answer many questions before they are even asked!!

Don’t be afraid to ask your guest to put their phones away during your ceremony. A simple sign or a little announcement by your officiant or DJ should get everyone’s attention. You hired a professional to take pictures all day, let them do their job.

Two words. New Shoes. Bandaids are the number one item I am asked for at a wedding and not for cuts. Many people are wearing new shoes and get blisters on their heels before the ceremony even begins. Make sure to add a few to your day of bag!!

When setting up your decorations, leave any candles that need to be turned on or lit sitting out. This will make it easier and faster for the people doing the final touches right before the reception starts!

When talking with vendors, before the big day, make sure to give them someone’s number besides your own (your mother, the MOH, wedding coordinator) as a backup. With all the fun and excitement of the day, you may not have your phone with you when someone has a question and honestly you may not even want to deal with issues that arise. Let someone else deal with the stress so you can enjoy your day!

Are you blocking a set of rooms at a hotel for your guest? Ask the hotel if they can place a welcome gift in each room. You could fill the bag with some local treats (Grippo’s BBQ chips for the local Cincinnati Weddings), water, Tylenol (for the next day hangover), a thank you letter and so much more! Just a little way to say welcome and thank your wedding guest that are coming from close and far.
