One question I get asked A LOT when we’re setting up our 20x20 tents:
“Can you move it a little to the left?”
And yes… technically, we can.
But there’s always a little more to it than just grabbing the tent and scooting it over like a couch in your living room.
Because when you’re dealing with a 20x20 tent, “a little to the left” can mean moving 400 square feet of tent, all of the legs, stakes, ropes, and sometimes working around fences, trees, houses, landscaping, driveways, pools, uneven ground, and about 14 things that weren’t there when we originally looked at the setup area.
Then comes the follow-up:
“Actually… can you move it a little more?”
Sure.
“Like… three feet?”
At that point I’m basically playing Tetris with a 20x20 tent.
The funny part is that most of the time, we can make small adjustments. We just have to make sure the tent is still safely placed, properly staked, and actually fits where you want it.
So if you’ve ever had a tent setup and thought, “You know what? I think that would look better over there…”
Just know you are absolutely not the first person to ask.
And yes, we’ve probably heard:
“A little to the left.”
“A little more.”
“Actually, back the other way.”
“Wait… can we turn it?”
All before the first table even gets unloaded.
That’s just part of the job.
If you’ve rented a tent before, you already know exactly what I’m talking about.
