The members of South Jersey Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 56 would like to remind everyone that Memorial Day is not about BBQ’s, beer, burgers, and hot dogs. It is a time to reflect and honor the soldiers, airmen, marines, sailors, coast guardsmen, and merchant marines who gave their lives protecting our country and preserving our freedom from the start of the Revolutionary War till present day.

On March 26, 2025, the Honorable Zahid Quraishi, U.S. Federal District Court Judge, was the keynote speaker at the NJ State FOP Education Conference in Atlantic City, NJ. Judge Qurashi is the judge who ruled in favor of FLEOA / NJFOP in their lawsuit against the State of NJ. It was found that the State of NJ violated the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution and the LEOSA Law by requiring retired officers to obtain a concealed carry permit under NJ Law. The State of NJ appealed the ruling to the Federal 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals on March 30, 2023. The State of New Jersey appeal was denied in a 3-0 PRECEDENTIAL decision on February 14, 2024.
After the speech, Lodge 56 members, and a member of Lodge 144 had the opportunity to meet with Judge Quraishi and take a few photos. Photo 1 (L-R) are Lodge 56 Delegate Ken Buck, Hon. Judge Quraishi, Lodge 56 Vice President Dean Fillari, Gabe Addonizio - NJ State Lodge Education Committee. Photo 2 (L-R) are Lodge 56 Delegate Ken Buck, Hon.
