Most people know him as Roberto “La Amenaza” Garcia. I’m blessed to know him as my primo, my mentor and a WORLD CHAMPION. 🥊🇲🇽🏆
Roberto is one of the last true throwback fighters—a man who fought anybody, anywhere, without needing a protected record or an easy route. He became an IBA World Welterweight Champion, a WBC Silver Middleweight Champion and a two-time IBA Intercontinental Champion.
What makes his story legendary is everything he had to overcome.
At only 27, Roberto was dominating Freddie Hernandez and had dropped him multiple times early. But after a controversial doctor stoppage, his opportunity was taken away and his career was set back for years. Most fighters would have walked away.
La Amenaza kept fighting.
Ten years later, at 37 years old, he went into Monterrey and defeated Omar Chávez by unanimous decision to capture the WBC Silver Middleweight Championship. He proved that delay does not mean denial—and nobody can take away what God has planned for you.
He also stood across the ring from Antonio Margarito when Margarito was one of the most feared names in boxing. Roberto faced champions, contenders and dangerous opponents because that is what real fighters do. No ducking. No padding. No excuses.
Even after winning titles, he continued taking real fights and adding more championship belts to his legacy. Every belt in this picture represents sacrifice, pain, discipline, setbacks and the heart to keep going when the world counts you out.
Watch his Spike TV documentary. Learn his story. Give this man the respect he earned.
The boxing world knows him as Roberto “La Amenaza” Garcia—a world champion and one of the last true Mexican throwback warriors.
I know him as Primo.
I’m blessed to have his example and mentorship in my life. His career proves it is never too late to finish what you started.
SALUTE TO A WORLD CHAMPION. 🥊🏆🇲🇽
