Against my better judgment—and despite having no need for outside validation—I have entered a beauty contest. 🐾👑

Apparently, being devastatingly handsome every day at Mimosa Farm is not enough. Now I must compete for a title I assumed was already mine.

I hate to admit it, but nothing would make me happier than winning. So please vote for me. Do it for the farm. Do it for the glory. Most importantly, do it so I can spend the rest of the year reminding everyone that I am officially beautiful—not just “my mom says I’m handsome” beautiful.

A little Joey update. 🤎🫏

Our sweet boy is spending some time in the barn right now and could definitely use a little extra love.

We’re not exactly sure what’s going on yet, but Joey is pretty lame, he isn’t eating as well as we’d like, and he’s just not quite himself. We’re keeping a close eye on him, doing everything we can to get him feeling better, and hoping that stubborn Joey personality makes a strong comeback very soon.

In the meantime, if you’re one of Joey’s many friends and have been meaning to stop by and see him, this would be a really good week for a visit. ❤️

He may be feeling a little crummy, but he still knows when his people are around — and I have a feeling some extra scratches, sweet talking and attention might be pretty good medicine.

A quick note for anyone who would like to visit: Mimosa Farm is not currently open to the public. Due to the ongoing neighborhood opposition surrounding the farm, visits need to be scheduled in advance, so please reach out to me before coming by.

I also want visitors to be aware that cameras have been installed at one of my neighbors, 501 Alphin Ave, facing toward the farm and capturing vehicles as they enter and leave the property. I think anyone coming here deserves to know that before they visit.

Please don’t let that keep you from coming to give Joey some love — just reach out first so we know you’re coming. 🤎

And hopefully, a week from now I’ll be posting that he miraculously perked up and is back to being his usual opinionated self.

So send our sweet old man some good thoughts. And Joey… eat your dinner. Your Mimosa Farm family is rooting for you. 🤎🫏

🥂🌵 MARGS & MATRIMONY at Mimosa Farm! 💍🍹

We have a FULL HOUSE this weekend, and the farm has officially been taken over by a bachelorette crew celebrating Kaleigh! 🤍

The theme? Margs & Matrimony — and I’m pretty sure they understood the assignment. 🍋‍🟩✨

A house full of girlfriends, margaritas flowing, pool time, lots of laughter, and an entire weekend dedicated to celebrating the bride-to-be.

Safe to say, we are living our best life over here at Mimosa Farm. 🥂

This is exactly what this house was made for — gathering your favorite people together and making memories you’ll still be talking about years from now.

Fingers crossed the weather clears this afternoon because I’m hoping to have my granddaughter and a few of her friends out to the farm for a little back-to-school break before summer officially slips away. 💛

One of the biggest reasons I bought this house—and have poured so much love into this property—was because I wanted it to be a place where my children, their children, and the friends we’ve collected along the way who have become family could gather.

Birthday parties. Cookouts. Pool days. Holidays. Random Sunday afternoons. Kids laughing and running around. The ordinary moments that eventually become the memories we treasure most.

Mimosa Farm is a business, yes. But first and foremost, it is my home. And sometimes the cars coming down the driveway aren’t customers or “event guests.” Sometimes they’re simply people I love coming to Lovey’s house. ❤️

So today, I’m hoping for a little sunshine, a lot of laughter, and maybe one small courtesy:

Please let these young people come and go without being photographed or videotaped by my neighbors.

They’re kids heading to Lovey’s house for an afternoon at the farm. They deserve to simply be kids.

Here’s hoping the rain cooperates. ☀️🐮💛

Did you know you can rent the entire house at Mimosa Farm for your bachelorette weekend?

That means you and your girls can check in, unpack, pour the champagne, turn on the playlist and make yourselves at home for the weekend. 🥂💍

Stay together. Get ready together. Lounge by the pool. Have your morning espresso overlooking the farm. Book a little spa time. Take approximately 4,782 pictures. 😂 And most importantly — enjoy an entire weekend with your favorite people without everyone scattering to different hotel rooms.

Because while we may have cows, goats, a donkey, pastures, hay and all those other pesky little things that make us a farm… 😉

Mimosa Farm has been — and will always be — an Airbnb / short-term rental, too.

And sometimes our Airbnb guests come for a quiet weekend away.

Sometimes they come for a family getaway.

And sometimes…

the bride brings the whole damn crew. 👰🏼‍♀️🥂

🐄 Apparently, we need to discuss what makes a farm… a farm. 😂

I recently learned that Mimosa Farm’s “farm” status has been called into question because we “only have three cows and a donkey.”

First of all… the goats would like a word. 🐐
They are deeply offended by their exclusion from the livestock census.

But since we’re here, today’s little Farm Fact Friday seems appropriate:

A farm isn’t defined by how many cows you own.

Mimosa Farm sits on 8+ acres right here in the City of Waynesboro, where we raise livestock, maintain pasture, grow and bale hay, and spend an unreasonable amount of time repairing things animals have decided should no longer remain standing. 😂

Our current agricultural workforce includes:

🐄 Three miniature Angus cows
🫏 Joey, our very opinionated donkey
🐐 Our goats — who apparently need a better PR department
🌾 Pasture and hay production
👩‍🌾 And one woman who has learned far more about fencing, manure, livestock, tractors and hay than she ever expected to know.

Farms come in all shapes and sizes. Some have hundreds of cattle and thousands of acres. Some are small family farms tucked into communities that have grown up around them.

Small doesn’t make it less of a farm.

And for the record, I’m going to continue calling Mimosa Farm… Mimosa Farm. ❤️🌾

The cows voted.
The donkey seconded the motion.
The goats are still upset they weren’t mentioned in the original complaint.

Motion carries. 😂

Today’s agenda: catching up, following up, and finally getting back to YOU! 💻☕️🤍

The past few weeks have been exhausting. So much of my time and energy has been focused on advocating for Mimosa Farm and navigating everything that comes along with that.

And somewhere in the middle of meetings, preparation, conversations, and simply keeping the farm running… my inbox got a little out of control. 😅

So today, I’m reclaiming my desk, pouring the coffee, and working my way through every backed-up email, message, and inquiry.

If you’ve been waiting to hear from me — today’s your day! 🙌

And I want to say something else, because I think it’s important.

Some people may think I’ve been fighting so hard for myself. I haven’t.

I’ve been fighting for every person who looks at Mimosa Farm and sees the place where they want to make a special memory. The couple who imagines saying “I do” here. The family celebrating a milestone. The friends gathering around a table. The guests who come here to slow down, reconnect, celebrate, laugh, and leave with a memory they’ll carry with them.

That’s what I’ve been fighting for.

Mimosa Farm may be my home, but over the years, it has become part of so many other people’s stories too. And I believe that is something worth standing up for. 🤍🌿

So, today feels a little more normal.

Coffee poured. Laptop open. Inbox up.

And if I owe you a response — it’s coming today. ❤️

‼️PLEASE READ‼️

First, I want to sincerely thank the City of Waynesboro staff for the time and work they have put into this process, and City Council for taking the time to listen to every person who chose to speak—whether they spoke in support, raised concerns, or simply asked questions.

There will not be a final vote on Mimosa Farm’s Conditional Use Permit until the next council meeting, so for now, we wait.

And while we wait, life at the farm will continue.

We will continue welcoming our registered guests. We will continue celebrating the special moments we are fortunate enough to be part of. We will continue caring for the animals, working on the property, and making memories here.

I also need to share one important change.

For years, I have been incredibly open with this property. People stop by to see the animals, walk through, take a look around, or simply enjoy the farm. I have loved being able to share this place so freely.

Unfortunately, based on some recent events, including threats and individuals entering the property without permission, I can no longer maintain that level of open access.

Effective immediately, Mimosa Farm will be accessible to registered guests, invited guests, and those with a scheduled appointment only.

If you are not here as a registered or invited guest, please contact us before coming onto the property so that an appointment can be arranged.

And because this has apparently become something I need to specifically clarify: Mimosa Farm is private property and is not currently open to the public for dog walking, strolling the grounds, visiting the animals, sightseeing, or self-guided visits. Please do not enter the property without permission.

This is not the way I would have preferred to handle access to a place I have worked so hard to make welcoming. But right now, protecting my family, my guests, my animals, and the people who work here has to come first.

To the many, many people who have reached out, signed the petition, attended meetings, written letters, spoken publicly, sent messages, stopped me in the grocery store, or simply reminded me that what we have built here matters—thank you. More than you know.

The process isn’t over, and neither are we.

Between now and September 14, we are going to keep doing what Mimosa Farm has always done best:

Welcoming our guests.
Taking care of this beautiful little piece of Waynesboro.
And making memories.

I respect the process, I appreciate that Council heard the community, and I look forward to the final vote on September 14.

Until then, there is still plenty of life to be lived at the farm. ❤️
