Mount Madonna Center

Mount Madonna Center "You are in the mountains where there is fresh air and water, where there are trees and plants and streams. Sit with them and enjoy the creation of God.

God and creation are not separate. The idea is to attain peace.”
- Baba Hari Dass, SilenceSpeaks Mount Madonna Center is a conference and retreat center located on 355 acres of mountain-top redwood forest and grassland overlooking Monterey Bay, between Santa Cruz and Monterey, in Northern California. We are a community designed to nurture the creative arts and the health sciences within a context

of personal and spiritual growth. Founded in 1978, Mount Madonna was inspired by Baba Hari Dass and is sponsored by the Hanuman Fellowship, a group whose talents and interests are unified by the common practice of Yoga. We offer a supportive community atmosphere for relaxation, reflection, and a wide variety of learning experiences. Book a personal retreat, attend a yoga retreat, or choose to host your own program and guests in a gorgeous environment and with a supportive community. Program participants are invited to join in all ongoing Center activities – celebration, work, and play. Amenities include yoga classes, hiking trails, volleyball, tennis, and basketball courts, a pond (we call it "The Lake") for swimming, a hot tub, a gymnasium for volleyball and basketball, and Ayurveda consultations and bodywork at the Wellness Center.

🌿 Volunteer at Mount Madonna this Fall 🌿

Have you ever wondered what it is like to live, serve, and grow in a community grounded in spiritual practice and selfless service?

At Mount Madonna Center, volunteering goes beyond just helping out: it invites you to adopt a lifestyle of mindful self-growth, serving something greater than yourself, while being supported by and giving back to a spiritual community. What to expect:✨ Weekly hands-on service in areas like the kitchen, garden, events, hospitality, and more✨ Simple housing + nourishing vegetarian meals✨ Weekly yoga classes & reflection circles✨ Time in nature, redwood trails, meadows, and expansive views of Monterey Bay✨ A supportive, multigenerational community where practice and play go hand in hand

Our next Volunteer Session runs Sept 23 – Dec 7, 2025, and applications are open now!
