Watertown has been growing for years.

New homes.
New neighbors.
New businesses.
New ideas.

The question isn't whether our community is growing.

The question is whether we're creating spaces for the people driving that growth.

The people taking the risk.
Starting the business.
Sending the proposal.
Meeting the client.
Building something from scratch.

Those people deserve more than a corner of the kitchen table.
Hive Haus is our investment in them.

Every building gets a second chapter.

Some become storage.
Some sit empty.
Some slowly fade into the background until people stop noticing them altogether.

And then there are the buildings that get another chance.

A chance to be useful again.
A chance to serve a new purpose.
A chance to become part of a community's future instead of its past.

That's what excites us about Hive Haus.

Not because we're creating something new.
Because we're taking something that already matters to Watertown and giving it a new story to tell.

The walls have been here.
The foundation has been here.
The history has been here.

We're just helping write the next chapter.

One of my favorite things about small towns is watching people bet on themselves.

A few years ago, a friend of mine decided to leave the corporate world and pursue something he'd always been passionate about: motorcycles.

That dream became Billi-Moto Co.

Billy grew up right here in Watertown. While he ultimately chose nearby Delano as the home for his shop, his story is one I love sharing because it's a reminder that so many great businesses start with one person deciding to take a chance.

Whether it's repairing, restoring, or improving motorcycles, he's built a business around something he genuinely loves.

As Hive Haus continues to take shape, stories like Billy's are exactly why I'm so excited about what we're building. There are so many entrepreneurs, makers, creatives, and small business owners throughout this area with incredible stories to tell.

If you haven't heard of Billi-Moto Co., they're worth checking out!

And if you're building something of your own, I'd love to hear your story in the comments too.

Supporting local isn't just about shopping local. It's about celebrating the people willing to take the leap.

Some people do their best work at a coffee shop. The smell of caffeine in the air and coffee-shop music playing in the background.

Some need complete silence and no activity happening around them.

Others need the energy of people around them. This is sometimes called body doubling. Seeing and feeling other people be productive motivates you to be productive too!

We're curious...

Where do you get your best work done, and what makes that space work for you?

Whether it's your home office, a favorite café, a coworking space, or somewhere unexpected, we'd love to hear.

You might even inspire someone else who's looking for a better place to work. Leave your answers in the comments below!

In just a couple of weeks, Watertown's Annual Rails to Trails Festival will be here!

Streets will fill with neighbors, local businesses, families, and all the traditions that make this weekend such a big part of summer.

And yes... the hunt for the Golden Spike kicks off on Monday, July 20, so if you've never joined the search before, this might be the year!

While Hive Haus won't have a booth at Rails to Trails this year since we're still building toward opening our doors, we're already looking forward to being part of the festivities next summer!

If you're headed to Rails to Trails, what's your favorite tradition? Is it the parade, the food, the live music, or are you on the hunt for that Golden Spike?

One of the things I love most about small towns is how connected everything really is.

These photos are from my dad's 70th birthday celebration, and looking through them made me smile all over again.

We celebrated at B's On The River.
We hired Shelby J Photography to capture the memories.
We danced the night away with Midlife Crisis.

All local vendors.

And then there's the people.

Friends from the volunteer fire department where my dad served for more than 20 years.
Business owners.
Neighbors.
Friends who became family... and family who brought even more friends along.

It's a reminder that local businesses aren't just places we spend money.
They're where birthdays are celebrated.
Where friendships grow.
Where milestones become memories.
Where community happens.
That's exactly the kind of community we're excited to become part of with Hive Haus.

What's a local business that's been part of some of your favorite memories?

The Fourth of July has a way of reminding you why small towns are so special.

It's a reminder that community is built one conversation, one tradition, and one familiar face at a time.

As we continue working toward opening Hive Haus, days like today make us even more excited.
Because we're not just looking forward to opening a building.
We're looking forward to becoming part of the everyday rhythm of Watertown.

Happy Fourth of July from all of us at Hive Haus. We hope you have a wonderful day celebrating with the people who make this community so special.

A hive doesn't just happen.

Every chamber is intentional.
Every entrance designed for flow.
Every space built so the work inside it can actually thrive.

That's the difference between a building that was designed and one that was just built.

A built building has four walls and a roof.

A designed building has energy. It hums.
People move through it differently.
They stay longer. They collaborate more. They come back.
That's what we are chasing with Hive Haus.
Not just square footage.
Not just a lease.
A place where small businesses can plug in.

Because when the space is right, the work is better.
And when the work is better, the whole hive thrives.
That's not an accident.
That's a design decision.

Somewhere along the way, I realized I didn't want to commute to my own job.

I'd been running my business out of my home and decided it was time for a real space. So I started looking to lease, buy, whatever made sense. But everything either had the right price and was too far from home or was close to home and didn't work.

I didn't want to drive away from my house, my kids, my dog just to get to work. I wanted to be right in town.

And then this building that is now Hive Haus came up for sale.

I saw the potential right away and I thought, if I feel this way, I can't be the only one in Watertown who does.

Hive Haus is for the professionals in this area who want a beautiful, functional space close to home. Close to life.

This place is going to belong here. We're going to make sure of it.

Can I paint you a picture?

It's a Tuesday morning. Maybe 8:30. The parking lot at Hive Haus has a few cars in it already. Not a rush, not a crowd. Just a handful of people who had somewhere to be today.

Someone's setting up for a client meeting in one of the private rooms. They brewed coffee at home but there's a fresh pot going anyway and it smells like the kind of morning where things might actually go well.

Down the hall, someone else is deep in their laptop. No interruptions. No kids asking questions. No laundry in the corner of their eye reminding them of everything else that needs to happen today. Just the work, and a space that finally feels like it belongs to them.

At some point two of them end up in the hallway at the same time. They've seen each other before. They start talking. One of them knows someone the other one needs to meet. They exchange numbers. Neither of them planned on that today.

That's Hive Haus. That's what we're building.

Not just square footage. Not just wifi and a conference table. A place where people show up, do serious work, and belong to a community of people who are building something too.

We can't wait to open these doors.
What would your Tuesday morning look like inside a space like this?
