*Public Service Announcement
I never thought I would feel the need to post a PSA… because really ~ who am I, to tell anyone anything? Unless, of course, they ask my opinion🤷🏻♀️
But here it goes anyway.
I’ve learned after being in the floral industry, there are people out there who are called “order gatherers”. They optimize the web searches to come up on top when you do a search for florists locally. So even though you type in Watertown florists (or whatever town you are looking for, to order flowers for an occasion- they always come out on top and always have in their taglines “local”, “family owned” etc. )
So here is the deal- you place an order through them (Ava’s florals, Toni’s flowers, blossom flowers, Sunny’s flower delivery or Terry’s florals to name a few) for let’s say $150- they take your order, pocket the money and then have a true local florist fill that order. They offer the florist maybe $40 to fill it, acting as the go between you and the actual florist filling the order.
This is a bummer for you as the customer, because you think you are supporting “local”, you are paying a steep price and your order to be delivered will only be worth $40, when you actually paid $150. The recipient of your flowers never knows that you paid for a more fancy bouquet and are happy that you thought of them.
There are three parties who lose in this scenario- you the customer, the recipient of your order and also the true local florist, you thought you were supporting.
When I opened my business I vowed I would never take an order gatherers order for the above stated reasons. My phone rings regularly with these types of orders and I refuse them. I want my customer to know that when they order a $75 arrangement, that I will put my heart and my soul into giving you my very best and that I stand behind my flowers.
Most people order flowers at one point or another so I just thought I would pass this along. If you believe in supporting local- skip the sponsored ads and scroll down a bit to find the true local florists. I’m not going to tell anyone where they should put their money, but now you know the whole story behind those top ads on the internet
