You’ll have increased industry knowledge, expand your network of contacts and even discover potential partnership opportunities.

Networking is about bringing people together. Reach out to your competitors, learn from their experience, maintain the relationship and expand your network by asking them for referrals, introductions, or recommendations, and doing the same for them. Join your industry community, groups or associations and participate in their discussions or projects.

For those who have been following me for a while or that are new here, my name is Yvette Cardoso, owner of Wedding Creative & Design. As I write this I can’t believe I’m even writing this number but I have been helping couples plan their wedding for 14 years.

My husband and I got married 19 years ago. We were fortunate to get married at the amazing Fourth Avenue Theater! (The venue no longer exists in AK) I had a venue coordinator which I soon learned was not the same as a wedding planner. The day of, I spent most of the time getting the place ready for guests and asking family to help. It was not what I had envisioned doing. What started off as a hobby making sure that couples didn’t go through what we did turned into a career and passion in planning a stress free day for them.

Many years later as a business owner in Alaska I found it hard to make friendors as we were viewed as competitors. Now not only do I get to help couples but I also get to fulfill my passion in trying to build a community of vendors become friendors. I have been working really hard for this goal and I couldn’t have done it without The Certified Wedding Planner Society.

CWP Society has been helping me train to become an educator and now I get to be one and move forward with helping grow our wedding industry community not only here in Alaska but all over the world. I also get to work with these amazing certified educators. I’m so excited and can’t wait to show you what’s in store!
