Ukrainian Fashion, Made Under Air-Raid Sirens | | Now That’s a Good Look Ep. 3 | Vinok

What does it mean to create fashion while air-raid sirens are sounding?

Created by BBDO Ukraine with augmented-reality support from ADVIN, the initiative brought together more than 20 Ukrainian fashion brands, including KSENIASCHNAIDER, POUSTOVIT, SAYYA, and NOMIS, to document the extraordinary conditions under which Ukrainians continue to live, work, and create.

Garments produced during the full-scale Russian invasion carried labels reading, “Made in Ukraine under the air-raid sirens.” By scanning the labels’ QR codes, viewers could experience augmented-reality content and hear the sirens that sounded while the pieces were being made.

EXPERIENCE UKRAINE’S AIR-RAID ALERT SYSTEM
The Повітряна тривога (or “Air Alarm”) app delivers official air-raid and civil-defense alerts for selected cities, regions, districts, and communities throughout Ukraine. The app was created with support from Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation, and it can be set to English, making it accessible to international users who want to better understand the reality Ukrainians experience.

After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, even a package of LITKOVSKA patterns had to be recovered from the rubble of a shelled postal depot. Yet the house returned its team and production to Kyiv, where its collections continue to be made.

Fashion has always reflected power, aspiration, fantasy... and sometimes, unfortunately, inequality.

In this video, I break down several of the most striking looks from the 2026 Met Gala, including the dramatic cape designs worn by celebrities like Beyoncé and Madonna, while examining the broader economic backdrop surrounding fashion’s biggest night.
