What's This Video About?
Fashion has always reflected power, aspiration, fantasy... and sometimes, unfortunately, inequality.
In this video, I break down several of the most striking looks from the 2026 Met Gala, including the dramatic cape designs worn by celebrities like Beyoncé and Madonna, while examining the broader economic backdrop surrounding fashion’s biggest night.
This is not an attack on fashion, of course! As a personal stylist, I deeply believe clothing is culture, art, craftsmanship, and identity. I believe clothing can unite people in dark times. I believe that the right outfit can boost individual confidence and make the world a better place, so much so that I separated from a fifteen-year career in the military and instead pursued a creativity-centered entrepreneurship in fashion and personal styling. ..But I also believe fashion exists within political and economic reality, and the juxtaposition is worth discussing thoughtfully. So strap in!
✨ Featured discussion topics we'll cover in these 4 minutes:
The 2026 Met Gala theme: “Costume Art” / “Fashion Is Art”
Celebrity cape and couture symbolism
Luxury fashion during periods of economic uncertainty
Why fashion remains culturally and politically significant
