On this here , let’s go where the money resides!
We are going to talk about MONEY and INVESTING in your wedding.
Yes, I said INVESTING, because having a “budget” is for the poors.
Both these scenarios are the types of inquiries wedding pros receive all the time. One is realistic, one lives in fantasy dream land. Here’s the breakdown as to why:
NOTE: For the purposes of debate, we are qualifying that we are ONLY discussing true wedding creatives—not your cousin neem that does this sometimes for the family reunion mmkay?!
Scenario A is NOT THE MOVE!! This BUDGET is for the poors.
A catering meal is going to run you in the realm of $150++ for a good two or three course meal PER PERSON. A pair of Jordans cost more than that. So a $5,000 budget for 300 people?! You’ve got McDonald’s money, so go home and feed yo kids.
A $5,000 budget may get you ONE of those items on his list, but not all of it!! Hell, the live band alone will run you $5k and up!
Open Bar?! FORGET IT! The math ain’t mathing people!! Happy Hour drinks will run you $12-15+ per drink. You’d spend $4,500++ for ONE DRINK for all 300 people. How many drinks do YOU have when you go out?! I’ll wait.
Scenario B is the more realistic option!
Considering a city-center venue, an elevated food and beverage experience with a lower guest count, this investment will stretch a lot more to crafting the wedding of HER desires—so if you want less, find less!
And let’s clear this myth: THERE IS NO WEDDING UPCHARGE! If you hear someone spouting this foolishness, sage them and wish them well on their delusional way!
WEDDINGS COST MORE because more is required to produce them.
That’s it. That’s the post.
We only get ONE SHOT at this!! There are no do-overs, so the ex*****on of the day needs to be damn near flawless!
This post isn’t to shame anyone because every dollar matters. But the funds you reserve for hosting a wedding should be INVESTED WISELY into the best possible strategy to produce your dream day. Dreams can be expensive, so plan accordingly!
