There’s something about these fleeting October evenings that makes you want to slow down and soak it all in. Tonight, it’s white chicken chili tortilla soup, sea-salt pita crackers, and a little time on the patio while the birds provide the evening entertainment. The perfect reminder that sometimes the simplest moments are the sweetest.

We’re savoring these beautiful fall nights at The Barn 1880: Historic Venue, knowing all too soon we’ll be trading patio evenings for cozy gatherings, holiday celebrations, and the magic of the season ahead.

When the bride is an art teacher and her mom is an artist… you know the details are going to be special! We love offering our couples a collection of décor here at The Barn 1880, but we also LOVE seeing a couple bring in pieces that tell their own story—and tomorrow’s wedding is full of them.

Just look at those hand-painted w**e bottle flower vases, created by the bride’s mom! 😍 And the fresh flowers? Grown, cut and arranged by the mother-of-the-bride too 🌼

Add in the creative pallet timeline, a beautiful rug runner leading down the aisle, and so many thoughtful, one-of-a-kind touches throughout the barn, and this wedding already feels completely their own.

There’s something pretty wonderful about watching a blank space transform as a family brings their talents, creativity and love into it.

Sometimes, the most meaningful gatherings we host are celebrations of a life well lived. Today, The Barn 1880 was honored to open our doors to the family and friends of Gary A. Vervaet as they gathered to celebrate his life.

Our old barn was filled with exactly what a Celebration of Life should hold—family, friends, stories, food and drinks, plenty of laughter, and memories shared by people whose lives were touched by Gary.

From everything shared about him, Gary had a gift for making friends wherever life took him. He loved to joke, give someone a hard time, and leave people laughing—and judging by the stories told today, he certainly left behind plenty of reasons to smile.

We are grateful that Gary’s family entrusted The Barn 1880 with such an important gathering. It is a privilege to provide a warm, welcoming space where our local families can come together—not only for life’s happiest milestones, but also to honor the people who meant so much to them.

To Gary’s family and the many friends who gathered today, thank you for allowing us to be a small part of remembering a life so clearly well loved.

May the stories keep being told, the laughter continue, and Gary’s memory live on through all the people lucky enough to have known him.
