There is still time to sign up for Wayne State University Labor Studies Center's workshops being offered during the months of April and May. We are offering exciting workshops; The Rights & Roles of Union Reps. ($40.00), Basic Grievance Handling ($75.00), Evaluating A Case For Arbitration ($75.00), Mediation ($40.00), and Collective Bargaining (two-session $150.00).

Hello Labor Leaders and Activists:

There is still time to sign up for Wayne State University Labor Studies Center's workshops being offered during the month of February. We are offering exciting workshops; 'The Family Medical Leave Act' ($40.00), 'Rights & Roles of Union Represenatives'($40.00), 'Basic Grievance Handling'($75.00) and 'Current Trends: Michigan's PERA'($40.00).

Will be Offering:

Rights & Roles of Union Representatives Fee: $75.00
If you are thinking about taking on union responsibilities for the first time, this is a good start. This workshop will increase your confidence and sharpen your skills to help you preform your new role.

URW1 Saturday, 02/11/12, 9:30am – 12:00pm

Basic Grievance Handling Fee: $40.00

This Workshop is a must for union representatives and is a great source of information for those who would like to understand more about how grievances are processed.

BGH1 Saturday, 02/25/12, 9:00 am – 3:00pm

Current Trends: Michigan’s PERA Fee: $40.00

This workshop will review and discuss numerous changes to the laws regulating public sector unions and Employee-Employer relations in Michigan.

CTP1 Wednesday, 02/29/12, 6:30pm – 9:00pm

UAW Region 1 is offering five (5) weeks of FREE educational classes beginning Tuesday, February 7 and Thursday, February 9, 2012:

All classes will be held at Region 1. The registration form, which lists the date and time of each class along with a flyer with additional information, is linked below. Registration forms must be returned to Nancy Adams Johnson, UAW Region 1, no later than Friday, February 3, 2012. After you have registered, you may report to class on the assigned day. NO confirmation letter will be sent.

Attention: UAW Local 869 Active Members
As a result of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, you are now allowed to add your adult children to your Dental & Vision Coverage. If you have adult children that are eligible for medical coverage they are also eligible for Dental & Vision Coverage.
No, they don’t have to live with you
No, they don’t have to be a full time student
No, they don’t have to be claimed on your income taxes
Special enrollment will be held Monday Dec 5, 2011 through Friday Dec. 16, 2011, for an effective date of January 1, 2012.
To add your children you have to call Benefit Express at (888) 456-7800 Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm. At the voice prompt say Representative to be connected to a customer service rep who will complete your enrollment.
Please, don’t call before the 5th of December.
