Zohran Mamdani just said what millions of Americans have been feeling for years.
There’s a political system in this country that never seems to run out of money when it comes to billionaires, massive corporations, or endless tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. Somehow, there’s always another subsidy, another loophole, another bailout for people who already have more wealth than entire communities combined.
But the second someone suggests using public money to help working families survive? Suddenly the same politicians start screaming about “fiscal responsibility.”
They call healthcare too expensive.
They say affordable housing costs too much.
They claim feeding hungry children or helping seniors is “unrealistic.”
Meanwhile, they hand billions to the wealthy without blinking.
That’s the hypocrisy Mamdani is calling out.
The richest country in the world should not have people working full-time jobs while still unable to afford groceries, rent, or medical care. It should not be controversial to believe government should work for ordinary people instead of functioning like a rewards program for billionaires and corporate donors.
This debate is not really about money. It’s about priorities.
And for decades, the priorities in Washington have overwhelmingly favored the people at the very top while everyone else is told to settle for less.
Americans are tired of it.
