🌿 Romance in the Garden 🌿
There is something truly magical about a North Fork garden wedding, and Erica & Rob's wedding day at the historic Jedidiah Hawkins Inn was an absolute dream to bring to life. ✨
From the moment we stepped onto the beautiful, grounds, we knew the florals needed to feel as if they grew naturally out of the estate’s historic charm. For Erica, we curated a lush, romantic palette that complemented the timeless, rustic elegance of the venue—blending classic garden textures with soft, organic movement.
At Dexter Florist, we believe in a "one wedding at a time" philosophy. It allows us to pour our hearts into every single stem, ensuring that every bouquet, centerpiece, and delicate detail feels entirely personal and utterly unforgettable. 🌸
Congratulations to the beautiful newlyweds! Thank you for letting us be a part of your love story on the North Fork. 🥂🤍

Twenty-five years of floral history, hand-picked for a single day. 🌸📖
Translating the styles of 1910 through 1935 requires more than just beautiful flowers—it requires an understanding of the eras’ unique shapes and palettes. For this stunning wedding at Gatsby on the Ocean, I focused on "history-correct" florals to ensure every floral felt like a genuine artifact of the time.
The result? A celebration that was as timeless as it was beautiful.

This is a long one but...I had the most amazing couple walk through my door planning their wedding. Intrigued by the theme 1910 to 1935, It led me down a rabbit hole on the history of floral design.
I want to start with my brides bouquet. I had the pleasure of recreating a look that has largely been lost to time: the Lap Bouquet.
Inspired by the iconic bridal flowers of Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester. Originally designed by Constance Spry this design moves away from the modern round or traditional cascade styles. It is actually designed to be cradled in the arms, but i did update it to a hand held, keeping the shape in a wide, horizontal design.
Historically Curated Ingredients yessss.
To ensure period accuracy, every element was chosen based on the popular botanicals found in high-society weddings of the early 20th century:
White Roses & Spray Roses: The quintessential symbol of purity and timeless elegance.
Peonies & Sweet Peas: Soft, romantic ruffles and a delicate fragrance that defined Edwardian and Art Deco weddings.
Asparagus Fern & Bush Ivy: Airy, trailing greens that were the "it" foliage of the era, providing that signature light and wispy movement.
I integrated "love knots"—silk ribbons that were a staple of vintage bouquets, symbolizing an unbreakable bond.
Transitioning from the late Edwardian period into the height of the Gatsby Age required a balance of abundance and structure. This lap bouquet isn't just an arrangement; it’s a piece of living history. Seeing it held against the backdrop of a 1920s-inspired gown truly felt like watching a vintage photograph come to life.
Vintage isn’t just a look; it’s a feeling and this was Period-accurate and perfectly romantic.
