The wedding industry has a trust problem.

The Knot recently shared a “Never Play List” that was supposedly curated by “experts”. I made a simple, straightforward comment:

Tag the experts.

Not to argue. Not to troll. Just to see who’s actually behind the recommendations being given to couples.

The comment seems to have disappeared.

If advice is being presented as expert guidance, couples deserve to know who’s giving it.

Who are the experts? And why should couples trust recommendations when the people behind them aren’t clearly identified?

So many lists float around the internet and claim to be done by experts but in my opinion the only list that should dictate what plays at your wedding is your own.

I feel like in today’s world we can easily fall victim to be overly-influenced and second guess ourselves. Sure draw inspiration from what you see but remember that’s it’s your day so ultimately do what resonates with you and your partner. And if you are worried about whether or not something will work or go over well, discuss with the actual expert you hired for your wedding day to see how you can make it happen.

Manifesting a moment like this for your wedding day

The Kowloon Food Truck might be the greatest late night food option for a wedding or any event for that matter.

The best wedding crowd reactions come from the songs you least expect. If I took the sound off this video you would have thought Levels was playing at the drop.

“Shower” by was on the must play list and the SECOND it dropped, the entire dancefloor started screaming every word.

Moments like this are why reading the room matters so much as a wedding DJ.

When the Punjabi music comes on and the mother of the bride starts doing this… you already know the dancefloor is about to go crazy.

One of the best parts of multi-cultural weddings is seeing both families come together on the dancefloor. This wedding at Glen Magna Farms had nonstop energy all night, especially once the Punjabi music started playing.

Moments like this are what make wedding receptions unforgettable.

One of my favorite parts of being a wedding DJ is ending the night with a moment like this. Every guest on the dancefloor together celebrating the newlyweds and creating a wedding memory that lasts forever.

This wedding took place at the Glen Manor House in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.

Just a couple of djs sharing wedding stories. Brides, look out for those wooden planks, they will get you.

Can anyone relate? Share your stories in the comment section.

This is your sign to stop overthinking your wedding playlist.

A packed dancefloor doesn’t have to come from the top 100 wedding songs playlist.

If you love it, play it.
The best wedding moments don’t come from “safe” songs, they come from you.

“Defying Gravity” wasn’t the obvious choice… but it became one of the most unforgettable moments of the night.

The point is, if you are on the fence about putting one of your favorite songs on your playlist, talk it over with your dj and see if you can make it happen! It’s your day, your music should feel like you!

Shoutout for this redrum edit!
