Five hours before guests arrived, the centerpieces were still being built in the kitchen.
Calla lilies cut. Feathers placed. Amaranthus arranged to drape just right. In the other room, greenery was being laid by hand down a 20-foot table. Chargers set. Napkins folded. Pearl strands draped. A vinyl decal hand-pressed onto an arch that would be the first thing guests saw when they walked in.
By the time the room filled — the black candles lit, the purple uplighting on, the gold fringe catching every flicker — none of it looked like it took five hours. It looked like it had always been that way.
That's the part no one thinks about when they're looking for a venue. Not the space itself — but who's behind it. Who's in the kitchen at noon building something beautiful for a room that won't be full until 6.
This was Richard's 40th. His husband planned every detail. We made sure every one of them landed.
