Reportedly 16,000 attended the Detroit Pop Festival held in Olympia Stadium on April 7, 1969.

Amazing how they could be one of the most influential, yet "under the radar" bands of all time. Thankfully, we got to see the ultimate live band numerous times. Allman Brothers Allman Brothers Band

On March 26, 1969, having just arrived from Los Angeles, Gregg Allman walked in for his first rehearsal in his brother Duane Allman's new band.

The Allman Brothers Band played their first gig 4 days later on March 30, 1969 at the Jacksonville Armory.

54 years ago today, The Allman Brothers Band first got together.

Happy Birthday guys. Thanks for the music.
