From ewwww to ahhhh!! Sewing all of those hot pads for you makes for a lot of fluff bunnies inside my sewing machine. Thankfully I am not afraid of taking it apart & giving it a good cleaning every few weeks. It always runs & sounds so much better after a good cleaning!

The Mom was so thrilled by the end results of the ensemble for her daughter with her own wedding dress lace appliqued all over it.

This wedding dress was quite a bit of work. The bride needed it shortened 5" but wanted to keep the beautiful scalloped edge lace hem. I cut it off & sewed it back on at the right length, hemmed the inside lining fabric & cut the crinlon lace attached slip. I put a button & loop for the bustle, took off some rubbery material inside the bodice that bothered the bride & put in underwire padding for the bodice. Her sister's dress only needed to be hemmed 2 inches, but there are 3 layers of fabric, the outside & two underskirts. The neck strap needed to be shortened 1.5" as well. The Dad has me fix his clothing all the time & insisted that I do this work for them as I am the best - ahhh!! :) They brought it to me a week ahead of Spring Fling & I pinned everything & said I can do it if you can wait. The bridesmaid was performing with the dance group we had so they knew Spring Fling was just around the corner & were happy to wait.
Whew! I am exhausted!

Here is what I spent hours & hours on in the past few days. It is a wedding robe/lingerie to wear as the bride prepares for her day. She will be wearing this as she has her hair, nails & makeup done. The outfit is embellished with lace from her Mom's wedding gown that she wore 37 years ago. The gown is gorgeous and so well made. I carefully took the stitches out of all the pieces I used. When I switched to using longer pieces down the front I found out that holes had been cut behind most of the lace. When I finally got those pieces off all that was left was a jagged hole. Oh well, I still couldn't get myself to cut any part of it. I continued tediously taking out the tiniest machine stitches until I got all of the lace I wanted to use.
Now what do you think?
