😂 No, we are NOT in Selah, Washington!

We get this one more often than you might think…

“Wait… The Selah? Is that in Selah, Washington?”

Nope. 😄

The Selah is right here in the Walla Walla Valley, tucked into the country between Walla Walla and Waitsburg — about 10–12 minutes from Walla Walla and just 5 minutes from Waitsburg.

So why The Selah?

Because Selah isn’t our location — it’s our invitation.

The word Selah appears throughout the Psalms and is commonly understood as a call to pause… reflect… consider… rest in what has just been said.

And that’s exactly what we wanted this little piece of country to be.

A place to pause from the busy.
A place to gather with people you love.
A place to celebrate what matters.
A place to breathe a little deeper and stay awhile.

So, just to clear things up:

📍 Selah, Washington? No.
📍 The Selah near Walla Walla? YES.
🌾 Out in the middle of nowhere? Not quite — although the wheat fields may try to convince you otherwise. 😂

Country location. Close to both. And very intentionally… The Selah.

Sunday at The Selah 🤍

It was such a joy to host this beautiful outdoor celebration at The Selah. From the moment of arrival to the final departure, the day was filled with thoughtful touches, beautiful details, and moments worth remembering.

There’s something especially beautiful about watching each couple make this property their own—the open fields, golden sunsets, and quiet country setting creating a backdrop that feels different every time.

We’re grateful they chose The Selah to be part of their story. 🤍

🌕✨ THE SELAH HAD FRONT-ROW SEATS! ✨🌑

Last night, the skies over The Selah put on quite a show! We were blessed with a clear view and were able to watch the entire lunar eclipse unfold right above us. 🙌

There’s just something incredible about standing outside in the quiet of the country, looking up, and watching the moon slowly slip into the earth’s shadow. 🌎🌕 From the first noticeable shadow to the deep, dramatic eclipse and then watching the moon emerge again — we got to see it ALL!

No tickets. No reservations. No special effects. 😉
Just another beautiful night at The Selah and a reminder that sometimes the very best entertainment is simply to look up. ❤️

BACK TO OUR ROOTS | SUNDAY AT THE SELAH 🌾

There is something sacred about remembering where we came from.

Before life became so hurried, faith was often passed down in the ordinary places—around the supper table, on the front porch, working beside one another, tending the land, bowing our heads before a meal, and gathering together on Sunday.

Our heritage isn’t simply made up of old photographs, family names, barns, recipes, or stories from another generation.

Our greatest heritage is faith.

It is knowing the God our grandparents trusted.
Teaching our children the Scriptures that carried generations before them.
Remembering how to work with our hands, care for our neighbors, gather around the table, and make room for one another.

At The Selah, Back to Our Roots is about preserving more than the past. It is about carrying forward what should never have been lost.

Because someday, we will be the ancestors they talk about.

May they be able to say that we gave them roots.
That we taught them where they came from.
And most importantly, that we taught them Who they belong to.

“One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.” — Psalm 145:4

🌾 One of the Last Fridays of Summer at The Selah

There is something about these last evenings of summer.

The harvest is nearly finished.
The fields are changing.
School supplies are being gathered, schedules are filling up, and before we know it, another season will have slipped quietly into the next.

But tonight, maybe we don’t need to hurry it along.

Maybe we sit outside a little longer.

Let the children play until the light begins to fade. Listen to the crickets. Watch the sun settle behind the hills. Leave the dishes for a few more minutes and stay at the table.

Our grandparents understood something about seasons that our hurried world sometimes forgets:

There is a time to work—and there is a time to sit down and enjoy what the work has produced.

That’s part of what we dream about for The Selah.

A place where the old rhythms still matter.
Where children can experience simple things.
Where families gather.
Where skills and stories are passed from one generation to another.
Where we remember that a full life isn’t necessarily a busy one.

Summer won’t stay.

The children won’t always be this little.

The fields won’t always look exactly as they do tonight.

So on one of these last beautiful Friday evenings of summer, perhaps the most important thing we can do is simply notice it.

Take the picture.
Sit on the porch.
Call someone over.
Watch the sunset.

Don’t rush into the next season so quickly that you miss the beauty of the one you’re standing in. 🌾

🎣 Back to Our Roots | The Selah

There are some things you just can’t learn from a screen.

When Jeff was a boy growing up in Missouri, his grandpa taught him how to fish. How to bait a hook, cast a line, sit patiently and wait. How to find worms. Simple skills—and simple moments—that stayed with him for a lifetime.

Now, all these years later, he gets to pass those same things on to our boys.

And maybe that’s what going back to our roots is really about.

It’s grandparents teaching grandchildren what someone once took the time to teach them.

It’s fishing. Gardening. Building something with your hands. Cooking from scratch. Knowing how to fix things. Sitting still. Being patient. Learning to enjoy a day that doesn’t need to be filled with entertainment.

Skills passed down. Stories passed down. Memories made along the way.

One of our dreams for The Selah is to someday have a little fishing pond—a place where a grandpa can take a grandchild by the hand, grab a couple of poles, and pass along something that might otherwise be lost to another generation.

Because sometimes the greatest inheritance we leave our children and grandchildren isn’t something we can buy.

It’s simply taking the time to teach them what someone once took the time to teach us. ❤️
