Nov. 16 , 2017 - post ride report. The trails were frozen, with a crispy crunchy texture . Most segments are still free of leaves and well trimmed. A little was past the entry to the twisty sticks segment, does have a poplar tree dangling overhead, with some nasty eye catchers. It’s easy to see and easy to duck under. If the temps stay at or below 32 F , the trails will be open for riding , if temps get above, it’s not advised . Evening rides will continue all winter long , 6:30 every Wednesday! Normal mountain bikes can be ridden until the snow gets too deep. Winter trails are machine packed and groomed. It seems one of the reasons people may be adverse to riding in the winter is because of the cold . We have ridden down into the minus 20’s . Dressing properly is important, heat production and sweat control becomes the important thing. Because you are constantly gripping the handle bars without much arm movement, keeping fingers warm is a concern at say below zero. Lobster mittens seem to work , heat packs inside them keep fingers toasty. Winter riding is another way to embrace the season! My first winter love is xc skiing , biking is great cross training . Check out all of the xc ski races and Fat Bike races all over the 4 state area at www.skinnyski.com . Winter ❤️
