Turns out Waco, Texas (population 147,788) has a whole lineup of near-identical city twins scattered across the country.

Pomona, California is sitting at 147,807. Thornton, Colorado is only 22 people behind. Midland, Texas is right there with it. Rockford, Illinois, Columbia, South Carolina, Palm Bay, Florida, Pasadena, Texas, Gainesville, Florida, Visalia, California, and Savannah, Georgia all hover in the same neighborhood.

Same size, different zip codes, wildly different vibes. One’s a college town, one’s an oil hub, one’s on the Space Coast, one’s historic and coastal β€” and they’re all basically Waco with a different area code.

The Census Bureau really said β€œmake it a set.”

🚨 The Texas Triangle could be the biggest economic growth story in America over the next 10 years.

Dallas. Houston. Austin. San Antonio.

Four major cities connected by one enormous and rapidly expanding economic region.

And honestly… what other part of the country checks this many boxes at once?

βœ… Lower cost of living than many major U.S. metros
βœ… No state income tax
βœ… Affordable land compared with coastal markets
βœ… Strong job growth
βœ… Diverse economies
βœ… Business-friendly environment
βœ… Major universities & healthcare systems
βœ… Central location
βœ… Warm climate
βœ… Massive infrastructure investment
βœ… Exploding population growth
βœ… Advanced manufacturing, AI, energy & technology

And then you have Central Texas changing the game.

Tesla's Giga Texas.
Terafab.
AI.
Semiconductors.
Advanced manufacturing.
Robotics.
Defense technology.

But here's the part people may be underestimating:

The biggest winners might not even be the cities.

The suburbs, small towns and rural communities surrounding the Triangle could experience a massive transformation.

Imagine a future where:

πŸš— Self-driving cars make distance matter less
🏠 Remote work lets people live farther from major employment centers
🚁 Drones transform delivery and logistics
πŸ€– AI changes education and business
πŸ₯½ AR/VR makes high-quality education accessible almost anywhere
🍽️ Better delivery networks bring more food and services to smaller communities
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» High-income workers can choose lifestyle over proximity to an office
🌎 Talent continues moving into Texas from across the country

Suddenly, living 45 minutes outside a major city doesn't mean being disconnected from opportunity.

It could mean getting more land, lower housing costs, more space and a better quality of life β€” while still being connected to one of the largest economic engines in America.

That's why I think people may be underestimating what's happening here.

The Texas Triangle isn't just four cities growing.

It's an entire region becoming increasingly interconnected.

And if the next decade plays out the way many expect…

Texas may not just have America's biggest cities of tomorrow.

It may have America's biggest economic ecosystem. 🀠

The question isn't whether Texas is growing.

It's how big this thing gets.

In January 1895, a Waco woman checking beaver traps found something sticking out of a riverbank that turned the whole town upside down.

George Renick's wife was working a gravel pit near Tennessee Street when she spotted it: a human foot and leg jutting from the bank. But this was no ordinary body. The flesh had turned to stone β€” dun-colored, it rang like rock when tapped, and you could still see the pores in the skin.

Old-timers swore they knew who it was: Bill Johnson, the "terror of the Brazos." Back in 1859, Johnson had been captured in a Bridge Street shootout β€” then shot, hanged, disemboweled, and buried on a bluff by a mob. A surviving posse man, Capt. Henry Warren, took one look and would only say it "looks like Bill."

They put the body on display in an empty storefront and charged admission. A Dallas doctor examined it and called it a counterfeit β€” adding that a genuine petrified man would be "even more wonderful." A New Yorker wrote in saying the whole thing matched the Cardiff Giant, the famous 1869 gypsum hoax.

Then came the twist: amateur detectives reported a heavy box delivered to a house on South 10th Street the previous November β€” and men seen hauling something human-shaped through the night.

Before anyone could settle it, the courts seized the body to pay Renick's debts and auctioned it off. The buyer loaded it up and drove away after dark. It was never seen again.

Renick's farewell: "He may be a petrified mistaken identity for all I know, or maybe he is the original Adam. We found him and he is ours."

Four years later, copycat "petrified Bill Johnsons" were still popping up as far away as Alabama.

So β€” hoax, mistaken identity... or the original Adam?
