Bride: It's crazy; the price quotes I'm receiving for DJs are as high as those for photographers. DJs provide a day of service, while photographers have months of work after the wedding. It makes no sense that they are charging that much, especially when my wedding planner is taking care of most of the details.

Me: Imagine having months of planning and prep beforehand and then the responsibility of delivering on every detail and promise in real time with no ability to edit, retake, or photoshop mistakes. Those "moments" the photographer gets to edit months later were meticulously planned by your DJ, bundled with intuition and talent. If we don't do our job right, they can't do theirs. Your wedding planner isn’t in charge of executing moments in time. We are. You’re not paying for a “day of service” you’re paying for what you dreamed unfolding minute by minute live and in color.

EDIT:
Both photographers and DJs work tremendously hard for great outcomes. This is not meant to devalue or overvalue any professionals, but rather to show how both industries are important in their own right and ultimately work in tandem. Comparing industries is not the way.
