To think back ten years ago. It feels like a lifetime. The years that have passed, the people that I've met, the staff I've employed, the lessons I've learned, the changes I've made, the stories I've heard, the memories I've made, the hardship I've endured, the places I've been, and the growth I've worked hard for along the way.
I don't think any of it could possibly be summarized small. And with so many years ahead of me, I know that list will only grow.
Ten years ago I was twenty years old. I was a year out of floral school. I was not married. Back then I thought I knew what I was getting into. It took time to learn what it means to be a small business owner in a small town. What it means to be a leader to your team, and what it means to be both a salesperson and safe place for your customers. And again, I can only imagine the things I've yet to learn and the people I've yet to meet.
Purchasing this store has simultaneously been the hardest journey I've ever been on, and yet the absolute dream I hoped it would be.
To say, I'm grateful for every single one of these years would be an understatement. With my 10 years has come the understanding that for everything, there is a reason. And every lesson has a purpose. For me, leading with compassion and always assuming good intent are the 2 pillars I stand on. So we take each day for what it is, and what it teaches us. And in the amazing days, we celebrate and are grateful. And in the hard days, we learn the lesson they are meant to teach us, and know that it could always be worse.
So to each and every person who has joined me for this ride➡️My customers, my husband, my employees, my family, my friends, my community, and my fellow business owners. Thank you. Thank you for letting me be a part of your celebrations and your sorrows, your love and your heartbreak, your life milestones big and small, and everything in between. It has truly been my honor. There is no other place I would have rather spent the last 10 years.
