I will be revamping the cleaning rules here at the mec. I have been super easy and refunding without really checking on the previous events. If I have to clean up after your event in anyway shape or form then the booking fee will not be refunded because I will either have to pay for the cleaning person or get up early and go clean. I should not have to sweep or mop and you still get your booking fee refunded. If you just don't want to clean up that's totally fine! But don't expect it back. Anywhere your party is on the property must be checked. Any trash or left over items will result in a not refunded situation. Any mess I have to clean will result in a non refundable deposit. Do not tell me you did sweep or mop and the mop head is dry. I will know!

The Mitchell School building is not part of the mec. Every classroom inside the mec are individually rented by different businesses and I am not responsible for those areas so if you rent the mec please stay either in the mec or patio area.

Gazebo area is allowed as long as it is not rented. Slides (fire escapes) and pea gravel (landscaping areas) are strictly off limits. Please keep children out of those areas! Sweeping up the pea gravel off the sidewalks or patio areas is also considered cleaning and will result in a non refundable situation also.

Outside patio must be hosed off if you spill food due to the ants.

NO CONFETTI of any kind anymore.

All that being said we love having our guests and for the most part everyone has been amazing at cleaning up. I am fairly easy going and allow certain things but I'm not ok with people saying one thing and I come in and see something else. I will know! I know every inch of this building. To me that is disrespectful to me, my time, our affordable beautiful venue and to this historical part of downtown Victoria.

Image below (old pic) is from a prior event and from one pass across the floor, after they claimed they cleaned and yes I refunded them. This has happened multiple times before.

Refunds will not be given until next day.

New cleaning rules will be posted by next weekend and also here.
