Good morning all!
Just finished enjoying all the Prom pics from Switzerland County's High School Prom and I want to personally thank each of you who chose us for your tuxedos and prom flowers! You looked amazing!!
Most of all I want to comment on the manner in which you worked with us - you exhibited good manners, patience while we worked with you to create the look you wanted and were prompt in trying on tuxes and picking up florals. Takes a lot of work on our part working from screen shots and Oh, just make me something-you know what I like!
Also, Thanks to other schools who had proms and chose us for their tuxes and florals! It was our pleasure!!

On another note - Leah will be on the high school parking lot at 7:30 AM tomorrow morning to pick your tux up. How easy is that? Just bring with you and toss it in the van! For others who may not have this option - please make sure we have yours by Noon Monday as well. Any tux not returned Monday will be subject to a $5.00 late charge each day the tux remains out.

Last is a great big THANK YOU to all businesses and individuals who work so hard to put the After Prom on! It is no easy feat. Greg Curlin and the after prom committee do a fabulous job of coordinating this event. It is a win/win as the kids have a safe environment to go to and the prizes are amazing. We always support the After Prom - consider volunteering for next year if you are available to support.

All I got folks - Know most of you are probably still in bed but this is on my mind today. Until........

Going on here folks to give a little PSA - we received notification this morning from our suppliers of hard goods and fresh floral product that beginning this Friday, April 11 we are getting an across the board 10% tariff increase. This is going to impact us and will not be removed until all tariffs are removed. Yes, this means prices will increase! To help us navigate this situation we ask that you be patient with us as this was not added by us. It gets crazy enough in here without having to dance around tariffs!
You can help by ordering your flowers ahead and not requesting same day delivery. We may not keep our cooler as full as normal and might have to preorder ourselves from our suppliers. So if you are wanting something specific please order early enough for us to get it in.
This brings me to Prom flowers - our order will be going in on Monday, April 14th. If there is something special you have in mind please get in to order. After the 11th we can still take orders and create corsages and boutonnieres - but, will have to work with what has been preordered.
As to tuxedos - cutoff will be April 21st, but as time passes you may have less to choose from. After the 21st we can still get you a tux, but it will have a surcharge added for expediting the order.
We are all in this together folks, our world is changing.

Good morning Folks! Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
Shamrock plants are in bloom in the shop today - treat yourself or a friend to one of these happy little things!

Sure missing our little newspaper keeping us up on events - Mike is doing a wonderful job but so much more is needed. Maybe we will have to go back to the "Town Crier" bringing news! In the meantime I will bring you mine --

Springtime screams clean up time and after the rough winter we had, our community sure needs one. Roadsides are littered and lots of sparkle and shine needs to find its way around here. On the moderate days to come put your sweatshirt on, grab a broom, rake and garbage bag and give it a whirl. You will benefit from the exercise and help to make our community a better place to live and welcome visitors. Don't make excuses!!

When you get the clean up done, go a step further and volunteer your services - no cost involved. There are many places to offer your help - just reach out and ask. Food pantry, nursing home, schools, churches, shops, theater and organizations to name a few. This is a great opportunity for young folks to offer community service.

To my matters at hand I want to remind churches and organizations that you must preorder your lilies and palms early. They will be in short supply the closer it gets to Easter. Palm Sunday is April 13th and Easter is April 20th. You need to get your order to me by March 31st as well as preorder Easter corsages.

Also, Prom is April 26th - we are accepting orders for tuxedos and prom flowers. Kindly call us for your appointment and we will get you scheduled to view our selections and reserve your tuxedo and take your order for flowers. You may not know color accessories this early, but you still can reserve the tux and add color at a later date. We welcome you all and will be supporting your Switzerland County High School After Promfestivities.

Also on the Town Crier note - Hos Coffee has relocated to 602 W Main Street. Do stop by and get your caffeine fix along with their other delicious drinks and amazing donuts!

Kind of a long post folks, but Facebook asked what was on my mind - these are the things today. Have a good week everybody and put what you just read to work to make a good community for us all!

Happy Spring Folks!
Been a second since I have posted on here, so here goes with some important information -----
I think there is some confusion as to deliveries - we DO make deliveries. We only did not do them on Valentine's Day as we were in a state of transition and too much to provide on that day only.

Also, as to PROM season - we are making corsages and boutonnieres AND have tuxedo rental available. We do ask that you make an appointment to select these items - it is pretty overwhelming when you all arrive at once. We can assist you better with appointments.

Jenny will be sewing at her new location at 304 Walnut Street and you can also set up a time via text to her at 812-212-0809. She can take care of all your prom alterations!

We also have added a new candle line ~ stop by and smell our new Milkhouse candles in fragrant spring scents!
Don't forget next March 17th is St. Patrick's Day! Wear your green
and send someone you love a fresh green arrangement or a shamrock plant! May the luck of the Irish be with you!!
Until............

Good morning folks!

Just a little update on our activities here at the shop. We are moving forward and wanted to let you all know we will have all your favorite things ready for carry out next week for Valentine's Day. Fresh made Schneider chocolates will hit the shelves and ready made arrangements will be in the cooler each day. As always we will have the "kids candy" with plush and balloons for everyone! Also available for carry out will be our beautiful spring bulbs and bloomers and many other plants and dishgardens. Stop in for a visit and pick up something beautiful for your sweeties. And, Oh Yes - vased roses and wrapped bouquets to grab and go!!

An extra special treat for our customers - with your purchase say Hello and share your ID with Ryan Jessop the new State Farm agent in town and he will give you $5.00 off your purchase. That is a sweet treat for you!

We will be delivering Monday through Thursday next week, just not Friday and will be back to our regular delivery schedule on Monday, February 17th. Due to the transition of ownership it is very difficult to provide all services on this high volume day. We appreciate your patience as we make our changes.

Love and until..........

Well Folks, Facebook is asking what is on my mind today! I never want to be biased or controversial as I think problems should be solved with consideration, respect and looking at all aspects of a situation. But, yesterday I received a phone call from a furniture maker who thought he was speaking with Edelweiss Floral in Berne, Indiana. After reassuring him we were in Vevay he began to question our heritage - wanting to know - did we have store fronts that exhibited our Swiss connection and did we have a main street with little shops. I told him about the Swiss Wine Festival and he seemed perplexed we had a festival that represented our heritage once a year with nothing in between that promoted our community. After engaging in a long conversation that got me to thinking about a lot of things and quite frankly I think we can and should do better! So I googled Berne, Indiana and took a tour of their business store fronts and was so pleasantly surprised how our buildings could have these facades created on them to make them more welcoming. I know we need more shops and I struggled with retiring and leaving this building empty and am excited we will be keeping a much needed business here. So here is my challenge to all building owners in Vevay - please seek out any available grant money or programs that might be available to give them a face lift.
I was told that funding is out there but you need to source it. Make them inviting inside and out and then perhaps they will be attractive to new business to locate. We are slowly destroying ourselves with unnecessary banter on matters we disagree on and should be practicing and focusing on all the good things we could be doing - takes the same amount of energy folks! And again I am not being critical, but am just trying to pass on to our community a different view as to how others see us. Pretty lengthy post folks, but Facebook asked.

Edelweiss Floral Update - Good news folks!!
After I made my last post thinking the plans were in place for Edelweiss to close after 40 years an amazing thing happened!
I was contacted by a member of our local community who had an interest in continuing with a floral shop. Sooooo - here is where we are currently...... We are in transition and will attempt to keep you in the loop as to what is going on.

Officially, on the 31st I am retiring and certain aspects of the business will change and we ask for your patience and understanding as we work the "kinks" out Thus far it looks like this ~ I will stay on to mentor and work with the new operator for at least a year. Peggy will continue to work part time and work with the new owner on funerals and event work. Jenny is going to open
her own sewing and alteration business here in Vevay, but will offer her assistance to the new owner especially at Prom time. It takes a full year to grasp all aspects of the floral industry and I feel we have a good fit to go forward!

With that said and asking for your patience I ask you to work with us on changes for Valentine's Day, Friday February 14th. This year we will NOT be making deliveries. We will have all the things available to spread the love ready for carry out. There will be balloons, flowers, roses, plush, candy, bulb gardens, plants and much more for you to grab and go. We will open at 8 that morning and ready for you. We will NOT be answering the phone or taking internet orders - all services will be turned off that day.

For those of you with inquiries regarding prom - we will be available for tuxedo rentals and prom flowers as always. Do call ahead to make your appointment for choosing your tux and fitting time. Same would be appreciated for flowers! This gives us the proper amount of time to work with you for your needs.

We will always have beautiful arrangements for all your special needs - ordering early for best service is always appreciated. We try to have arrangements ready for pick up, but sometimes funeral and event work take precedence and we may fall short. That can be avoided if you preorder especially during this transition time!

More coming and will continue to update!
Until.........
